Today’s 2023-2024 season finale luncheon explored one of the most pressing questions a leader can face... Why get out of bed? 🤔 For real. Social responsibility, social purpose, these are new words representing complex answers to the big, scary questions, like what is your reason for existing? What are you really here to do? Well, you’re a Chamber member, or at least you follow us on social, so we know you get out of bed to make an impact – and you’re not alone. 80% of Gen Zs prioritize finding a job in alignment with their values. More than half of consumers now expect brands to drive change in society. So we invited Manitoba-based B Corp leaders John Gunter of Frontiers North Adventures, Kiirsten May of UpHouse and Brendan Reimer of Assiniboine Credit Union to learn about B Corp certification, their purpose, and how it’s impacted their bottom lines. Key Takeaways: 1. Authenticity is everything. It’s easy for businesses to say they’re values-based, but B Corp certification is a third-party expert verifying that your organization walks its social purpose talk. 2. The financial ROI is undeniable. Your market is fragmented across platforms and mediums, and younger people look for purpose as a unifier in the organizations where they spend their hard-earned dollars. 3. Your employees depend on it. Today’s talent has an incredible amount of choice. Now, they want to work for organizations building the world they want to live in. Thanks to our sponsors for making today’s event possible: Title: Assiniboine Credit Union Canada Life Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries Corporation VIP Reception: Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP Networking Sponsor: SaskTel Lead, connect and grow with us! Award-winning Founder and Creative Director // Climate Solutions and Regenerative Ag Expert // We Make Beautiful Sense Out of a Complex World.
Wow! Y'all!! I am blown away by the response to the Leaders in Impact event that Anna Adlard and I are hosting next week at Orenge with the support of Alva Horton. The list of folks who have registered is incredible. But one thing that Anna and I both forgot to mention is that **space is limited.** When we first started planning this event, we decided to choose a smaller space so that we could have more one-on-one conversations. (And I'm also a total introvert and find large, crowded spaces overwhelming.) Why am I telling you this? Space is filling up quickly, so if you'd like to attend, I recommend registering today. And this is not me (solely) wearing my marketing hat. I would just really like to see you there! :) The link to register is in the first comment. The $10 ticket goes directly to excellent food and drinks—and our gorgeous space! -------------------- More details: WHY ARE WE CONVENING? 🌱 To nurture a place-based network for impact leaders in Durham 🌱 To spark new connections, ideas and collaborations on impact work 🌱 To provide a space for leaders to connect with peer leaders who face many of the same challenges WHO SHOULD ATTEND? 🌱 Leaders in Durham who work in environmental or social impact WHY JOIN US? 🌱 To connect with a network of impact leaders in our very own community 🌱 To engage in meaningful conversation with leaders at the intersection of environmental and social impact 🌱 To uncover opportunities for collaborations, connections and partnerships with like-minded peers

Executive Coach | Trailblazing Women become Confident Communicators | Media, Communication & Confidence Coaching | Ex-ITV | Let’s talk DM me
Great insight, guidance and learning from the #VistageSummit… They really know how to put on these events‼️ Firstly, there were four speakers who all excelled in their talks - well prepared, understood their audience and left us knowing, thinking and feeling more about their subjects: 🌟 Roger Martin-Fagg - a true master specialising in the economy. Never have I been so engaged in graphs, lines and numbers! The economy is turning upwards. Whoever gets in power recognises that SME’s are the engine of growth. 🌟 Anne Petrik - spoke about Vistage UK research findings about future ready leadership highlighting where the current gaps are within SMEs 🌟 Jessie Pavelka gave us practical tools to ensure wellbeing. His Eat, Sweat, Think, Connect was clever and memorable! - His question “what is the biggest challenge within your business that your teams are facing right now?” Got 338 responses. My 👀 zoned straight to the largest word in the bubble “#communication” 🌟 Jamil Qureshi told us to focus on what was good and turn that dial up‼️ His one degree of change, Think, Feel, Act, blame and response along with examples around belief systems were delivered with great humour 🤣 🌟 And the brilliant host Brad Waldron the man who magically and effortlessly pulls everything together from start to end! So good seeing Vistage chairs Laura Gordon Paul Johnson David Harding among others, members and guests. What I really noticed was: 👏👏👏 ✅ how attentive the audience was throughout the event - four quality speakers are better than ten! ✅ the event was well paced and thoughtfully formatted ✅ there was plenty of time to network A great end to my week‼️ Thanks to the amazing Vistage team Beth Lovell Philippa Sargeant (Hough) Karen Butcher - how do you all do it❓❓❓ And you - how was your Friday? The Advance is in its early stages, and it has already grown to 27 cities worldwide with a goal for even more cities, including yours! I might be biased, but this community is very special, and it’s special because of the people we invite to enroll in membership; people who, you too, can have a hand in selecting with our Chapter Leader program. Our members support each other in all areas of business and in doing so, many of them have become friends along the way. Being able to drive growth in this community has been such a wonderful experience for me, and much of that is driven by our amazing Chapter Leaders who are the ones who really create the space for members to make an impact. If you are a natural leader, passionate about networking, want to be known in your community and attract like-minded business people, and a higher-level audience, now is the time to come lead your community with a chapter of the Advance. Here’s what leading a Chapter in your community includes: ✅Exclusive marketing and branding insight from the president of the Conviction Marketing Agency, Danielle Cevallos ✅Invitations to exclusive destination events where we host the best in business ✅Internal support from members who have been where you are in business and have grown their own to bigger things. ✅Insane innovation circles and masterminding weekly with our members where you work on your business and step out of working in the business ✅Hubs around the world where you curate the monthly experience and facilitate the connection of other members. And so much more. Tomorrow is the last day for the current membership price of the Chapter Leader program which increases by 35% on August 1st and again by 35% on September 1st. Comment ADVANCE if you don’t want to be kicking yourself for not joining now. #businesscommunity #clevelcommunity #entreprenurialcommunity

Being visible and vocal isn't the same thing as being influential. With all the posts promoting the Eventex Most Influential People in the Events Industry, it can feel like a popularity contest. Personally, I’ve always hesitated to participate for that reason. But there are many #eventprofs on the list who genuinely deserve recognition, and I’d love to shine a light on those who regularly influence me to think deeper, learn more, and explore different perspectives. Adam Parry: Adam is brilliant and well-connected, having created one of the top #eventtech gatherings in the industry. Plus, he’s hilarious, down-to-earth, and always up for some good-natured text banter. Jonathan Kazarian: Jonathan stands out because he’s not just another tech bro. Jonathan genuinely understands the importance of investing in relationships and being a part of our community. He has spent a significant amount of time really getting to know the world of event professionals. Bob Vaez: Bob’s content is always insightful, and EventMobi has been a steady force in event tech for a long time (before tech was cool!). Whether sharing job postings or engaging in thoughtful discussions, Bob continuously helps spark important conversations for #eventprofs. Sina Bünte, CMP, DES, TMEP, HVED: Sina is brilliant, with her finger on the pulse of so many corners of our industry. Her creativity and insights are always spot on, which is why she’s constantly earning industry accolades. Veemal Gungadin: Veemal and his team are building tech that will make our jobs easier and more efficient. Their thoughtful, AI-powered software is set to change how we plan and execute events and he's always open to feedback. Michael Shapiro: Michael's writing and reporting are so diligently put together. There is thought, research, fact checking, and balance in everything that he puts out and he's become a great resource for #eventprofs. He can also hold a plank for at least 75 seconds. As I review the list to decide who to vote for, I'd love for you to share a few names of who you are voting for and why? https://lnkd.in/gJR3MBak

I recently had the opportunity to attend an insightful webinar hosted by Olusola Samuel Owonikoko, featuring Gideon Seun Olanrewaju as the speaker. The session was focused on a powerful topic: "How to Go Global." One of the key takeaways for me was the importance of balancing passion with capacity. While passion is vital, it's the capacity—your technical know-how and skillset—that truly makes you indispensable. As Mr Gideon highlighted, passion is the key, but capacity is king. We explored the intricate components of passion and how it's deeply connected to our purpose. Mr Gideon emphasized that purpose can be discovered through three main pathways: passion, potential, and profession. These elements should align, much like a Venn diagram, with purpose at the center. It's about finding harmony between what you do, what you're good at, and what you’re passionate about. He also shared the "Three C's" necessary for making a "Glocal" impact (local impact with global influence): 1. Capacity: The combination of skills and knowledge that keeps you eternally invaluable. Mr Gideon encouraged us to continuously read, write, and build our skills across three domains: practice, research, and policy. 2. Credence: Building a reputation is non-negotiable. Whether through sharing knowledge via videos, writing, or networking, it's crucial to show the world what you know. Never live in silence—make your expertise visible. 3. Community: Networking is key. Surrounding yourself with the right people, both in conventional and professional communities, can greatly expand your reach and influence. This event was a powerful reminder of the importance of having a clear career path, a single purpose, and a drive to make a difference, whether locally or globally. I’m excited to put these insights into practice as I continue my journey. #GlobalImpact #CareerGrowth #PassionAndPurpose #GlocalInfluence

🦄 Head of Talent & People | Expert in Scaling Tech Start-ups 🚀🚀 | Building Great Teams & Cultures 👥 for Seed and Series A Scale-ups in Belgium 🇧🇪 & Internationally 🌍
☕️ Reflecting on 3 days of PX Espresso Hour ☕ I’m still processing everything, not just the sessions, but the real connections made. It’s rare to be in a space where people are genuinely open, sharing, and willing to help each other grow especially in People functions. Here are some real highlights: 📢 Conversations that matter: The panels didn’t just focus on trends, they dug into real challenges we all face. I walked away with practical advice I’m already thinking about applying. 🤝 Genuine connections: Meeting people who share the same passion for talent and growth was refreshing. These conversations weren’t just about work, they were about building something bigger together. ☕ Fuel: Yes, the coffee was great, but the real energy came from the people. Being surrounded by minds that challenge you is what I love most about these events. 🔍 Looking for insights? Thanks to Josh Salazar who generously shared his notes here: https://lnkd.in/e89sueBi A big thank you to: Luke O'Mahoney, Jessica Z., Marie Krebs, Natalie Pearce, Alicia Grimes, Glenn Martin, JooBee Yeow, PhD, Lauren Gomes, Adam Horne, Megan Trotter, Frieda Möcker, Olivia Elf, Liesa Miller, Hanna Green & Ruth Penfold. Can't wait for the next event in Belgium, Luke O'Mahoney 😎 #PXEspressoLive2024 #TalentStrategy #PeopleFirst #GrowthMindset #Community
