We congratulate Labour MP Mike Kane on his appointment as the new maritime minister and look forward to working with him soon. Our CEO, Rhett Hatcher, on his appointment, reacted by saying: “I congratulate Mike Kane on his appointment as maritime minister. “Having shadowed the #maritime brief for most of the last Parliament he brings a wealth of knowledge to the role and is ably placed to hit the ground running. I look forward to working together to help ensure #shipping continues to be at the heart of UK prosperity. “There is much to be done across government for the shipping sector. The early focus should be on a long-term #decarbonisation plan, ensuring our approach to maritime borders helps, rather than hinders, #trade and working with the sector to deliver the workforce we need now and in the future.” To read more, click the link 👇 https://lnkd.in/d7sSfv52 #labourgovernment #shippingindustry
Where do we start? UK shipping is but a shadow of its former self. Many ships flagged out to FOC. A Red Ensign at the stern is no longer an assurance of UK nationals on board. The UK has a very serious logistical security problem that politicians fail to understand.
I would like to see this government fix and sort out the misdemenures that the Tories only gave lip service too. Seafarers mininum wage, Seafarers hours of work and comming down hard on shipping companies who have broken the laws of our land. Shall I hold my breath?
Whilst likely he'll get the brief, portfolios haven't been announced yet
Don’t worry Allan, he’ll only be in post for a dog watch! 🙄
Give the man a chance!
So happy for you!
