Thank you to everyone who attended our 150th Anniversary Dinner at The Box, Plymouth on Friday evening. With welcome drinks provided by Plymouth Gin, a rousing call to dinner by the Royal Marine drummers and the city's town crier, John Pitt keeping us all to time; and with past and present team members, Commissioners and industry friends and colleagues in attendance the evening was the perfect way to mark our anniversary - 150 years after being constituted within The Pier and Harbour Orders Confirmation Act, 1874, cited as ‘The Cattewater Harbour Order, 1874’. Special thanks must go to Richard Ballantyne OBE who was our after-dinner speaker and Matthew Morris FRICS FAAV who not only presented team member Emma Maunder with The Workboat Association's John Percival Memorial Award for Best Industry Trainee but also read out a message from HRH The Prince of Wales, congratulating us on our 150 years. #CHC150 #Cattewater #Plymouth #150years #maritime

Thank you to all our stakeholders who were able to join us for our celebrations, including the afternoon boat tour preceding our supper at the wonderful Box venue. Host a T Level student & find tomorrow’s maritime talent, today! We know recruiting the right people is crucial, especially in a highly technical industry like the maritime sector, and we also know long-standing skills gaps and shortages are holding many engineering and manufacturing businesses back. Engineering & Manufacturing T Levels have been designed to help solve both of these problems. T Levels are part of a reformed technical education system in England, created with employers, to standardise technical qualifications across the whole country. They give young people a combination of practical skills and essential theory, which means they can step straight into work as a valuable member of your team. Each T Level includes a 45-day industry placement hosted by an employer. As well as giving students on-the-job experience, these placements can help your business find future employees. Businesses like MedTec who have hosted T Level students have found it can be a great, fast-track route to recruitment. URGENT - Last day to take part: The Maritime Charities Group (MCG) has commissioned a study of the estimated size and demographic profile of the UK’s Merchant Navy and fishing fleet personnel and their dependents, from 2019–2040. The MCG will use this data to better understand the welfare needs, locations, challenges and changes facing seafarers and their dependents.
