Signal-dependent formation of #mitochondria ! A research team led by Prof. Nils Wiedemann, Prof. Carola Hunte, and Prof. Martin van der Laan, unveiled the precise import mechanism by which mitochondrial proteins with signal sequences are imported into the mitochondria. They discovered that these proteins are imported into the mitochondria via a unique negatively charged groove.
