I am running for City Council to bring people together to solve our common challenges. I’ll be a champion for neighborhoods and help Mayor Mahan complete his Back to Basics plan to make San José safe, clean and vibrant for every neighbor. What does that look like? Here’s where I’ll start: Tackling the homelessness crisis with proven solutions, like building affordable modular housing where it makes sense and providing mental health services. Making our neighborhoods safe by hiring more police officers, while embracing evidence-based crime-reduction strategies, like job training and drug treatment. Fostering economic development and opportunity by revitalizing neighborhood business districts and stimulating high wage job creation.

We are unique in our approach, fighting poverty using a community-based model that values relationship and opportunity. We hold closely to the belief that we can all learn from each other, regardless of status, race, or social position. Through taking time to build relationships that move beyond the traditional helper-helpee dynamic, we seek to restore dignity to people who live in now-struggling communities. The experts in a community are those who are living there, taking part in the life of the neighborhood every single day. We want to serve alongside those experts, empowering them to lead the way in bringing about lasting change and through creating access to opportunities for education or employment. Our vision is that people live in neighborhoods full of opportunity, know and serve their neighbors, and are invited into gospel-centered community. Our goals are to develop people and communities holistically, empower impoverished and underserved people to grow and develop in all aspects of their lives, and work alongside individuals to inspire and develop indigenous leadership. To accomplish these goals, we focus on:

Unlocking Potential through Workforce Development At Ransom Ministries, we believe in the power of second chances. Workforce development isn’t just about filling jobs—it’s about empowering individuals to transform their lives. By providing training and employment opportunities to those who have faced homelessness, addiction, and incarceration, we create pathways to success and self-sufficiency. When businesses invest in second chance hiring, they not only gain loyal, hardworking employees but also contribute to stronger communities. Together, we can break the cycle of poverty and reduce recidivism, all while addressing the skills gap in today’s labor market. Let’s work together to build a workforce that thrives on resilience and diversity. #SecondChanceHiring #WorkforceDevelopment #BreakingBarriers #CommunityImpact

Sharing Insights on Growth, Gentrification, and Inclusive Development As someone who was part of the NYC Department of Small Businesses team on the Brooklyn Barclays Center project, I’ve seen how TIF Districts and Credit Enhancements can drive revitalization. While the project spurred significant growth, it also raised major criticism on gentrification and the impact on the local community . Now, in my role as Economic Development Officer for the City of Bangor, I’m eager to hear from others’ experiences. We are focusing on community engagement to ensure local voices influence our plans emphasizing ongoing monitoring and evaluation to adapt as needed and ensuring affordable housing as a necessity to support diverse income levels. How have you balanced growth with mitigating gentrification in your projects? What strategies have you found effective and actually were executed to support inclusive development? #EquitableGrowth #InclusiveDevelopment

Striving to use my passion and knowledge for health and wellness to improve the well being of all individuals, as it is a human right to a healthy life.
Let's discuss the importance of resources in a low-income community! Economic and social conditions in neighborhoods influences how accessible employment, schools, health care facilities, grocery stores, green space, and many other critical resources are. Residents living in neighborhoods with concentrated poverty often have less access to rich resources and opportunities. Over the last three months, I have worked to establish meetings and rapport with the town of Ashland and the towns surrounding it to build a resource center... or in this case, a resource table! These various resources include housing, transportation, health, monthly newspapers from the local senior center, pamphlets/brochures on resources for career programs, and short-term and long-term rehab facilitated care. #resourceoptimization #resourcesharing #lowincome #residentservices
