I attended RYLA as a student in 2011. I was the 5th of my family to participate in the youth camp so I thought I had a pretty good idea of what to expect. My experience that week changed the course of my life. Because of the people I'd met, and the challenges to me personally as well as physically my life was forever altered for the better and I wanted to participate. In 2013 I was given the opportunity to return to camp as a volunteer and I have been doing so every year since. I don't over-exaggerate when I say that this camp and these people saved me. I'm not engaging in hyperbole when I say that this camp surrounds staff and student alike with the best people and support. I'm simply describing RYLA when I say that these volunteers are my second family. Those who know me well are at the very least, familiar with the Rotary sponsored youth camp I volunteer at every year. Every year I watch a group of high schoolers sit in a conference room at GSW and every year we ask if they know what RYLA is. Many of our students have had a family member or Rotarian attempt to describe the camp but all those pre-conceived notions falter when our students step off a bus to a screaming crowd of volunteers (iykyk). Even in my decade of experience with the camp, I still struggle to accurately describe what it means to attend RYLA. What I do know is that these 5 days of camp change lives. These young men and women return to their homes with a changed perspective and a passion to "do good recklessly" If you haven't experienced RYLA yourself I encourage you to volunteer. If you have a high schooler in your life that's looking to become a better person or leader then I encourage you to send them to RYLA. I assure you, their life will never be the same. I already dearly miss my RYLA family and cannot wait to see them again next year.

For this school, Efurb is the company that showed up with a truck and hauled off a couple thousand devices that were due to be recycled, scrapped, and otherwise disposed of. Instead of paying for a landfill, this school is receiving a check for their old devices that will help them purchase new machines for the 2024 school year. Maximization. Data Protection.
