Our founder, Vanessa Carter sat down with fellow AMR patient survivor, Robert (Rob) Purdie to learn more about his experience with Coccidioidal Meningitis (commonly known as valley fever) and the work he is doing to create awareness in the fungal community through a charity he co-founded called MyCARE. He is also a member of the World Health Organization Task Force of AMR Survivors. Fungal infections have received a lot of attention lately. For those impacted by these diseases and those caring for them, the attention is long overdue. TY Lorenzo Pezzoli and Tania Cernuschi for your leadership. As Lorenzo recently wrote: "I don’t want a world where the World Health Organization lacks the resources to do its job—where outbreaks of meningitis and other epidemic diseases go undetected, where life-saving vaccines don’t reach those who need them most, and where preventable deaths continue because surveillance, diagnosis, and response systems are underfunded." I work with the World Health Organization on public and clinical health challenges; water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), and the ongoing fight against cholera. WHO is fighting for a healthier future, and I am proud to be part of that fight and ensure that no matter where you live, you have a chance at a healthy life. That’s why I am pleased to have the opportunity to donate to the WHO Foundation to show that WHO is not just an institution; it is people, solidarity, and action. If 1 billion people give just $1, we can raise $1 billion to support WHO’s mission at a time when global health needs us more than ever. ➡️ Donate. ➡️ Share a photo holding up one finger in solidarity. ➡️ Tag 5 others to spread the word. WHO matters, and it’s ours to protect. Join me. https://lnkd.in/dEvjfkrG #HealthForAll #ProudToBeWHO #StrongerTogether #DefeatMeningitis #1Dollar1World

🚨 Today is a Day of Awareness! 💙 November 14th marks World Diabetes Day. 🔵 The lack of proper management of type 2 diabetes can lead to serious health consequences affecting a person's daily life and work. Two out of every three diabetics are diagnosed with hypertension, which increases the risk of heart disease, stroke, vision loss, nerve damage, and kidney disease. In Guatemala, Mayan indigenous populations are disproportionately affected due to a lack of access to healthy foods, medical treatment, and equipment to monitor blood sugar and hypertension. Salud y Paz is committed to promoting good health habits and educating patients on how to manage chronic diseases like diabetes. Our work provides consistent support, essential medications and checkups to patients diagnosed at our clinic or during mission weeks. Almost half of the patients who come to our clinic and up to 15% of patients seen by mission teams live with a chronic illness. This work is not possible without you! This Giving Tuesday (Dec 3rd) we are raising funds so we can be a reliable partner for our patients. Be part of this work by helping us reach our $40,000 goal.
