Confession: I used to find strategic planning kind of boring. Underwhelming. Predictable. Not anymore. It’s one of the projects I have loved the most as a consultant and coach. It has been fun, inspiring, energizing. Why? I think because I’ve approached it in a way that rebels against the ways I’ve been a part of it in the past: conference tables, power points, fifty pages of text, sleepy-eyed staff, skipping over nuances and richness. If you have strategic planning in your future, please know it does not have to look the way it has always looked. It does not have to yield a leave-on-the-shelf result. If you want to imagine it differently - both the process and the outcome - please let me know.
