In 2008, Lehman Brothers, a major investment bank, experienced a catastrophic failure due to inadequate #riskmanagement practices. The sequence of events was as follows: ➜ The Opportunity: 💰 Lehman Brothers identified potential profits in subprime mortgages. They failed to adequately assess the risks associated with these assets. ➜ The Investment Decision: 🎲 They heavily invested their portfolio in these high-risk assets, creating a highly concentrated position. ➜ Ignoring Risk Indicators: 🚩 As the housing market showed signs of instability, Lehman Brothers continued their #investmentstrategy without adjusting for increased risk. ➜ Market Collapse: 📉 When the housing market crashed, their portfolio suffered severe losses due to its lack of diversification.
