🔗 Rebar Management of a project. 🔗 Based on my experience, rebar has been fabricated and installed in conventional way without optimizing 3D models and BIM. This leads to mismanagement of rebar that can delay the project, excessive wastage, and even structural issues. Here’s I think why effective rebar management is a must: 🔹 Cost Control: Proper planning prevents material wastage and unnecessary purchases. 🔹 Time Savings: Streamlined processes reduce delays caused by misplaced or damaged rebar. 🔹 Structural Integrity: Proper sequencing of rebar fabrication and installation that lead to proper storage and handling. Mitigate corrosion and any defects of the rebar prior to installation. 🔹 Safety Compliance: Proper procedures mitigate risks, ensuring safer sites for workers. Techniques that we use for Rebar Management: ✅ 3D Rebar Modelling - Use of 3D model of Revit to produce the fabrication drawings for the workers. ✅ Detailed Planning & Scheduling: Use MS Project as scheduling tools to track material delivery and usage, aligning it with construction timelines. ✅ On-Site Storage Optimization: Keep rebar in a designated area, away from moisture to prevent corrosion. Use racks or pallets for organized stacking. Clearly tag rebar to match construction plans, avoiding confusion or rework. ✅ Regular Inspections: Conduct routine checks to ensure rebar is free of rust, bends, or other defects and compliant to the fabrication drawings. 💬 How does your team approach rebar management on site? I tried modeling a circular building using Midas Civil 3D and noted it is easy and faster to generate the design. Once you have all configuration requirements and dimensions including section properties, it should be a few hours to model such buildings, put boundary conditions, load, analyse and design the structural and nonstructural members at the comfort of your chair. All you require is a good and experienced detailer to put things in the construction perspective a communication tool for executing the works. I think you can look at the model and try to use your software and do it even better. If I can, you are better.
