We love these insights from Carly Shepherd on the move-in experience! It's never going to be perfect, but having a plan is critical. Here are a few additional tips we'd recommend: - Capture Content: These events are perfect for capturing great content for your social feeds for your new and future residents to see what life is like at the property. - Get the Whole Team Involved: This isn't just the first time your new residents are moving in, but it's also the first time your entire site team will engage with new residents. Move-in is the perfect opportunity to create friendly property-to-resident relationships. - Promote the Next Event: Use this opportunity to tell residents about upcoming events you have planned! This way residents know about all the great things you've been working on to make this semester awesome. We've also found there are tons of consumer brands and local businesses who would love to be involved with the move-in experience as they want to reach students in unique ways. If you're ever looking for additional brand partnerships, The Black Sheep works with some great ones looking for more opportunities. Message us for more details!

Is it too early to start talking about move-in day in #StudentHousing? Never! Our industry revolves around move-in day. It's the bookend to Turn. Actually, I would argue that it's the start of your next Turn. Move-in day sets the tone for everything that will happen at your student housing property over the next year. It's the informal kick-off to renewal season. Move-in day is not the 1st impression your new residents will have of your property (that either happened on a tour or when one of their friends told them about the property), but it is the most impacting and lasting impression both the student and their parents will have of the property and its staff. So how should you prepare for it? Carly Shepherd from Student Quarters gives some great tips In the most recent post on the Student Housing Insight blog. If this summer's move-in day is your first ever or your first as a new manager, make sure you read it, print it out, share it with your staff, and integrate these tips into your plans.
