In this debut episode of SNiPs, a special recurring segment of Fractals: Life Science Conversations, Alexander (Sandy) J.B. McEwan, MB, MSc, FRCPC, Bracken’s in-house expert in nuclear medicine, returns to the audio stage. Dr. McEwan, who has served as Past President of SNMMI, Chief Medical Officer at Ariceum, and Vice President of Radiopharmaceuticals at Ipsen, brings a wealth of experience and academic knowledge. He and host Colin Miller, PhD, FIPEM, CSci discuss the anticipated technological advancements in the radiopharmaceutical field to take place over the next decade. Topics include the importance of dosimetry, the "external beam paradigm," treatment options, AI in clinical trials and medical imaging, and more—all in under 6 minutes. Radiopharmaceuticals are a vital component of nuclear medicine, used globally to diagnose and treat a range of medical conditions. These drugs contain radioactive forms of chemical elements called radioisotopes. They are used in a variety of imaging techniques, from brain or heart imaging to the detection and treatment of cancer and hyperthyroidism. In this gallery, we explore how radiopharmaceuticals and imaging devices are used to diagnose diseases. Check it out! ⤵

How Do #Radiopharmaceuticals Enhance #DiagnosticImaging and Treatment in Nuclear Medicine? Radiopharmaceuticals are unique drugs that combine radioisotopes with specific molecules to target organs or tissues in the body. Used in nuclear medicine, they enable #diagnosticimaging and treatment by emitting radiation detectable by equipment like #PETscanners, allowing healthcare professionals to visualize, evaluate, and treat various medical conditions effectively. A most excellent first JNM podcast by Ken Herrmann focused on the potential of FAP as a target for therapy. Great insights from the panel. Recommended listening! It’s not the standard cancer target so will need careful consideration of the best approaches. #radiopharmaceuticals #theranostics #fapi
Explore FAPI-directed theranostics in cancer care with The Journal of Nuclear Medicine's new podcast! Moderator Ken Herrmann and panelists delve into FAP history, challenges, and the road to clinical success. https://ow.ly/xjez50QuynT #JNuclMed #NuclearMedicine #FAPI #Theranostics

[WELCOME] Witamy! New Posijet® successfully installed in Poland! The Nuclear Medicine Department of Maria Sklodowska-Curie National Research Institute of Oncology in Warsaw, Poland, recently acquired a new Posijet®, Lemer Pax's autonomous unit for fractionating and injecting high-energy radiopharmaceuticals for PET imaging and therapy. 💡 This Posijet® is the 2nd Posijet® in Warsaw and the 3rd in Poland installed in collaboration with our local distributor OncoSolutions. For the Oncology Centre's Nuclear Medicine department, which is equipped with two PET-CT scanners, patients’ injections can be a challenge. The Posijet® was chosen for its ability to reduce injection times, its level of radiation protection and its ability to optimise consumption of the radiopharmaceuticals injected. Maria Sklodowska-Curie National Research Institute of Oncology (Centrum Onkologii - Instytut im. Marii Skłodowskiej-Curie in Polish), formerly the Radium Institute, was founded in 1932 on the initiative of Marie Skłodowska-Curie, one of the pioneers in the field of radioactivity and double Nobel Prize laureate in Physics and Chemistry. Few people know that much about #radiation, yet it exists all around us. It is present in nature but since mankind discovered how the controlled use of radiation can have numerous benefits not least in the application of nuclear medicine and the treatment of serious conditions like cancer. But the sources of radiation are very different, and their categorisation has implications for the way we treat radioactive sources. In our latest post, {{linkedin_mention(urn:li:person:wASml_cIVc|Steven Pike)}} considers the different radiation sources allowing us to understand their role and application in industry, medicine and elsewhere. https://hubs.ly/Q02nmW550
