It's Children Mental Health week this week, an awareness week started by Place2be in 2015. This years theme is "Your Voice Matters". I think this theme is super important as children need to be encouraged to speak up and speak out, secure in the knowledge that they will be heard and supported. The needs of children in care have evolved significantly over the past few years. With the rise of mental health awareness, there's a stronger focus on providing emotional and psychological support. Children today need more than just a roof over their heads; they require a nurturing environment that addresses their mental well-being. Children's homes are stepping up to meet these needs by incorporating therapeutic services and personalised care plans. Staff are being trained in trauma-informed care, ensuring they can offer the right support. Additionally, there's a push towards smaller, family-like settings to create a more homely atmosphere.
