Exciting News! Mainstay Medical proudly announces the publication of clinical results comparing older and younger patients in a pooled analysis of three studies evaluating the safety and efficacy of ReActiv8 Restorative Neurostimulation. No significant differences were found, highlighting the therapy's consistent effectiveness across age groups. Jason Hannon, CEO of Mainstay Medical, stated: “High quality clinical evidence sets us apart in this industry. We study, learn, and demonstrate outcomes in patient populations before we suggest ReActiv8 is beneficial to a particular group of patients. This is how we partner with clinicians to deliver the best possible, and most durable, treatments for their patients. With these exciting results demonstrating the value of ReActiv8 across all studied age groups, we can now confidently support identification of older patients who are likely to benefit from the therapy. We look forward to continuing to partner with physicians to help chronic low back pain patients of all ages, and to growing the global body of peer-reviewed evidence supporting the ability of ReActiv8 to provide positive long-term outcomes.” View press release here → https://lnkd.in/es9U-A2p. #mainstaymedical #reactiv8 #multifidusdysfunction #chroniclowbackpain #restorativetherapy #thinkrestorative #restorativerevolution #lowbackpain #clbp #helpingpatients #patientfocus #puttingpatientsfirst Dr. Ardeshir Ardeshiri | Marco Amann | Simon Thomson | Christopher Gilligan, M.D.

Finally our article on ‘Achalasia cardia: A case report in young female’ is published on Wiley Online Library- Clinical case reports. A big thanks to all pure souls who have put their effort to craft this article. Learning point from the article: Even though rare this case report emphasizes the need for early recognition and accurate diagnosis of achalasia in young adults to avoid exacerbation of the condition and misdiagnosis as GERD. Patient outcomes and quality of life are greatly enhanced by suitable diagnostic techniques, appropriate therapy, interdisciplinary care, and comprehensive patient education along with frequent follow-ups. Happy reading and reflecting. https://lnkd.in/db55m56q

Chief Biomedical Scientist & Health and Safety Advisor for SHYPS York & Scarborough Teach Hospitals NHS FT
Diagnostics are key to the delivery of high-quality patient care. The IBMS has long been raising public awareness of the role of laboratory medicine. The huge evolution of point-of-care testing and the pandemic catalyst of need has meant diagnostic centre investment and commercial development have followed, but I can't help thinking that there is still a fundamental lack of investment and recognition of the essential support services remaining as an issue in our general hospitals. More focus is needed on the basics.

Every rare disease community requires the concerted attention of many--informed healthcare providers, investigators, legislators, donors and grant-funding organizations. We can not survive in darkness. It is in this context I am delighted to share this breaking news: HPS Included in 2025 DoD Research Program Oyster Bay, NY – In August, the Senate Appropriations Committee unanimously approved the Defense Appropriations bill in a 28-0 vote. For the first time, the committee report accompanying this bill includes Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome as an eligible condition for the Peer Reviewed Medical Research Program. The Peer-Reviewed Medical Research Program (PRMRP), established in fiscal year 1999 (FY99), has supported research across the full range of science and medicine. Its underlying goal is to enhance the health, well-being, and care of military Service Members, Veterans, retirees, and their family members. The Senate recommended $370 Million for the PRMRP in Fiscal Year 2025. To prepare to utilize this opportunity, please refer to the framework used in 2024. In Fiscal Year 2024, the PRMRP included six different funding mechanisms: discovery award, investigator-initiated research award, impact award, technology/therapeutic development award, lifestyle and behavioral health interventions research award, and clinical trial awards. Grant letters of intent were due in early May, and complete applications were due in early June-August. More about the program is at: https://lnkd.in/exKRBDcu The HPS Network is committed to leveraging this opportunity to the fullest and eagerly looks forward to collaborating with our science and research community to ensure this funding is utilized effectively.

Just published! Delighted to share publication of this prospective clinical study demonstrating feasibility of remote monitoring as part of clinical care for ILD. This was a multi-centre trial conducted at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust , Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust , Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust using patientMpower remote monitoring technology for home assessment of spirometry and pulse oximetry. The "bang of the drum" of evidence supporting a #digitalhealth approach for ILD care gets louder and louder. This trial builds on previous evidence by demonstrating the feasibility of home monitoring using patientMpower technology when integrated into an ILD clinical care service. It's fantastic to see such high patient engagement, even with daily monitoring frequency, and high patient desire to continue self-monitoring. A big thank you to the clinicians and researchers involved in this study; authors Dr Sarah Barth, Colin Edwards, Dr Gauri Saini, Dr Yusuf Haider, Dr Nicholas Williams, Will Storrar, Melissa Wickremasinghe, Gisli Jenkins, Dr Iain Stewart and Melissa Wickremasinghe. And of course a huge thank you to the study participants and their families. Through your involvement you play an important role in increasing understanding of how to improve ILD care, and supporting a more patient-centred approach to care for people living with ILD everywhere. https://rb.gy/0facvz

For oncologists, most patients come from outside clinics and therefore, communication and seamless collaboration are key requirements. A patient's medical history is critical. Requesting information from other offices has proven to be a complex and time-consuming task that requires many back and forths, with sometimes very limited success. ✨ I had the pleasure of attending the 37th Annual Congress of ESICM in Barcelona, and it was an incredibly enriching experience. The discussions on sepsis management, particularly those focused on understanding immune dysregulation, were highly insightful. 🧬💡 https://lnkd.in/ec8hTqYZ Sessions like “What is a dysfunctional host response?” delved deeply into the mechanisms of immune dysregulation in sepsis, highlighting the critical need for early identification and targeted therapeutic strategies. Additionally, Dr. Evangelos Giamarellos presented results from his clinical trial using an immunomodulatory treatment (anakinra) in septic patients. He emphasized the importance of patient stratification to identify those who would benefit most from such therapies. He stressed the need for point-of-care devices to enable effective patient stratification. #ESICM2024 #Sepsis #ImmuneDysregulation #Immunology #PersonalizedMedicine
