It’s not just universities, it’s a breakdown (indoctrination) of our complete education system

Yesterday I worked with a group of school leaders who wanted to discuss current events and reflect on how they could better lead during these sad and volatile times. We used The Mood Meter to share our own feelings, and talked about the importance of making space for teachers to do the same. We also explored this one-pager which is a summary of a blog written after the January 6th insurrection which left many educators wondering "What will I say?" The circumstances in the Middle East are certainly different than the circumstances we faced in early 2021, but many of the principles about how to move forward as a school community remain the same: 1) Create space and models for staff 2) Assess staff preparedness and leverage faculty strength 3) Dedicate sacred time in the school schedule. A lot of the leaders I've talked with in the past week have found this helpful, so I wanted to share it here. Special thanks to Michele Caracappa for putting pen to paper after January 6, 2021, and for providing a model that is helpful to us during troubling times.
