Co-creation—a word that's often overused in the charity sector. But at Best Beginnings, it’s something they are committed to. Through my evaluation of the Women in the Workplace programme, I'm learning how their commitment to working alongside parents and experts, shapes their resources every step of the way. Respect, credibility, and trust are the foundations of their approach, and it shows. There’s always room to improve, but Best Beginnings dedication to authenticity is something to be proud of. Thanks to Best Beginnings for inviting me to share some insights today. More insights to come in 2025 as part of the full evaluation. #CoCreation #Evaluation #Collaboration

Birth Mother's Day occurs on the Saturday before Mother's Day. This photo was taken shortly before my daughter's Birth Mom was wheeled into a C-section and I was giving her a foot massage. There are 7 kiddos in my family that I can thank 4 Birth Moms for. Not all 7 were adopted, but I love them the same. Thank you to the Birth Moms who have helped other women become Mamas. #birthmom #parenting #Parentingtips #parentingblogger #parenting101 #parentingblog #parentinglife #parentingwin #ParentingGoals

Here's the story of how Sybille Kuwert and I met, highlighting the importance of not always striving for perfection.
Three years ago, I received an unexpected phone call. I had just started a volunteer position on my community's social advisory board, and we needed to choose our roles within the group. This was in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, and we had only met once in a Zoom meeting. The call was from Sybille Kuwert, a person I hadn’t met until that day. She expressed her desire to co-lead the group with me. My immediate response was that I had just found out I was pregnant with my third child and wasn’t sure if I could take on the responsibility. Sybille's immediate response was, “WHY NOT?” Her question made me pause and reflect. Why did I answer that way? My previous pregnancies had been challenging, and I knew the road ahead would be tough. I’ve always held myself to high standards and was worried I couldn’t perform at my best during this time. However, I also strongly believe that women should be able to pursue what they want without needing to be perfect all the time. I love leading and taking charge of projects, so why should I step back just because of a pregnancy? Three days later, I gave Sybille a different answer. Now, three years later, we have created the “Beyourhealth & Lead Club” to empower women like us to confidently say, “Let’s do this!” and pursue the positions and lives they truly want. #Beyourhealth #EmpoweredLeadership

Here’s what brands get wrong about marketing toward mothers: They lack authenticity: Many brands miss the mark by not being authentic in their communication with mothers. Today’s generation of parents doesn’t want perfect lighting and models that make it look easy when it’s hard. They crave the raw realities. They have a limited definition of motherhood: Brands often fail to encompass the full spectrum of motherhood journeys, including challenges like miscarriage, infertility, postpartum identity changes, unexpected NICU stays, and more. They don’t meet mom where she’s at right now: Brands keep mom as a customer when she’s pregnant or trying to conceive, but don't continue the conversation into postpartum and motherhood. do not continue the conversation past pregnancy or the early postpartum period. At Mila & Jo, we help brands create authentic, inclusive conversations, content and communication that help you attract the mom demographic. Let's bridge the gaps in brand communication and create meaningful connections that resonate throughout every phase of motherhood. What are we missing? #AuthenticMotherhood #InclusiveCommunication #SupportingAllJourneys

Not a promotional post but all love! 💕 As Women's Day approaches, I want to share a heartfelt story that goes beyond celebrating women – it's about supporting, uplifting, and empowering each other. When I faced complications during my second pregnancy and nearly lost my first child, I realized the urgent need to help others facing similar challenges. Enter Janitri, a company dedicated to maternal and child health, where I found my calling to assist mothers in need. Three months ago, a distraught mother reached out to me, struggling to understand her baby's movements during pregnancy. She found it challenging to understand how the pregnancy was going. That's when we provided her with an NST device on a rental basis, allowing her to monitor her baby's health from the comfort of home. After a month, I reached out to check on her progress. It was then she confided in me, sharing her heartbreaking experience of having a stillborn last year. I shared my own story, offering words of encouragement and support. Through numerous conversations, I aimed to instill hope and positivity in her heart. And yesterday, I received a message that brought tears to my eyes – she had delivered a healthy baby girl. This experience reaffirmed my belief in the power of support, empathy, and unwavering determination. It's a reminder that no challenge is insurmountable when we stand together, offering each other strength and compassion. As we approach Women's Day, let's remember that true empowerment lies not just in celebrating achievements, but in lifting each other up during our darkest moments. Together, we can create a world where every woman feels supported and empowered to overcome any obstacle. #WomensDay #Empowerment #Support #Janitri #strengthinunity
