This program was an enriching experience that has significantly enhanced my professional skills and readiness for the job market. A recent report from IIT Delhi reveals a troubling trend: 22% of graduates from 2019-2023 were unable to secure employment. Analysts predict a similar outcome in 2024, with estimations suggesting only 40% will find jobs. This coincides with industry shifts, exemplified by recent IT sector layoffs at Infosys and Wipro. Furthermore, only 27% of graduates find roles directly aligned with their field of study, highlighting a concerning disconnect between graduate skillsets and industry requirements. Why is this happening at esteemed institutions like IITs? The culprit lies in the pervasive skills gap between graduates and employers.
