It turns out that staying up late could be good for our brain power as research suggests that people who identify as night owls could be sharper than those who go to bed early.

A few studies have shown night owls might perform better on certain cognitive tests compared to early risers, particularly in the evening when they're more alert. Night owls might exhibit heightened activity in specific brain regions associated with creativity and information processing during evening hours. Some theories suggest a historical advantage for having night owls within a group for vigilance or strategic thinking at night. The research on night owls and cognitive benefits is still emerging and requires further exploration. It's important to distinguish between staying up late and sleep deprivation. Night owls who get enough sleep (7-9 hours) might function well, but chronic sleep deprivation can have negative cognitive consequences regardless of your natural sleep pattern. Adequate sleep is crucial for overall health and brain function. Even for night owls, prioritizing sufficient sleep is vital. While there might be some potential cognitive benefits for night owls, sleep remains essential for optimal brain function. If you naturally tend to be a night owl, focus on getting enough sleep and developing a consistent sleep schedule, even if it's shifted later than the traditional early bird pattern.

Moonlight is kinda fun when it's really strong. There's also a quietness to night you don't get during the day... ♥️

I'm a night owl and an early riser - I go to sleep around midnight and am awake at 04:30 every morning to walk the dogs and then get to the gym by 06:30, but I'm not sure my brain is any sharper than those who aren't night owls.....
