The power of films and documentaries in shaping societal norms and values cannot be underestimated. One such individual making a profound impact is Mr. Gilles Devers, a beacon of justice and humanity. A true "Champion of Justice" who is not among us in this physical world but in our hearts. It's an old saying, "More gold has been mined from the thoughts of men than has been taken from the earth". While filming for a documentary in Lyon, France we have become a part of his journey that sheds light on his unwavering commitment to the greater good. His son Manuel Devers will surely take forward his legacy along with all of us. Some of the learnings while filming with him:- ☘️ Humanity is above our problems; ☘️ Unity can bring strength to the world, among the masses; ☘️ Truth has no alterations, it's the truth; ☘️ We all are born to add value in this world, keep adding yours. It's a blessing to be on such impactful projects and to be united alongside passionate filmmakers like CEO Abdelrahman Elboghdadi of Film Kham and the Filmontary team. This partnership enhances the collective mission of crafting meaningful content for societal improvement, fostering enlightenment, knowledge, and a shared vision for a more just and compassionate world. Nice exchange in Portugal after the presentation of the scenarios of my next film SAFFRON in order to find production and co-production ⵙⴼⵔⴰⵏ / SAFRAN / SAFFRON : Note of Intent ■ We are about to embark on a cinematic journey with «SAFFRON.» My goal is to create a visually emotional and rich work that captures the essence of life while exploring deep themes. In «SAFFRON,» we will delve into a universe where reality and imagination blend harmoniously. Through the character of Houria, we will explore the mystical connection between girls and crocus flowers. When these flowers fade, it is a sign that the girls have experienced violence, revealing a powerful symbolic dimension. The culprit will be represented by the forest monster, a mysterious entity protected by a law that seems to defy human justice. This representation will allow us to address themes of social responsibility and the fight against injustice. In essence, «SAFFRON» will be much more than a simple film; it will be a profound exploration of the most intimate aspects of the human condition, while highlighting the challenges we face in our quest for justice and redemption. #drama #cinema #justice #safran #saffron

Exploring Danish Culture Through Cinema 🎬 As I continue to expand my horizons and learn more about different cultures, I recently came across a gem from Denmark – the film "The Hunt" (Jagten) directed by Thomas Vinterberg. This powerful drama tells the story of a man falsely accused of a terrible crime, set in a small Danish village. The film is not only a riveting emotional journey but also a deep dive into the complexities of human relationships, trust, and society’s response to fear. Denmark has a long tradition of high-quality cinema and Vinterberg continues to be a significant figure in shaping the global film industry. Why watch it? 1. Cultural Insight: It provides a vivid portrayal of life in a close-knit Danish community. 2. Masterful Storytelling: The script and performances, especially by Mads Mikkelsen, are extraordinary. 3. Global Perspective: The themes of justice and social stigma are universal, making it relatable to anyone. As we broaden our international perspectives, engaging with films like The Hunt allows us to better understand the values, challenges, and nuances of different societies. If you’re looking for something thoughtful and gripping, I highly recommend checking it out. Have you explored any films or books from other cultures recently? #DanishCinema #GlobalCulture #LearningThroughFilm #ThomasVinterberg #TheHunt #MadsMikkelsen

Film Exhibition 5+ years ago: 1. Limited access to diverse global cinema due to geographical and financial constraints. 2. Filmmakers facing travel challenges due to disabilities. 3. Lack of platforms for emerging filmmakers to showcase their work and connect with a global audience. Film Exhibition today: 1. Curated selection of films from diverse continents, genres, and languages 🌍. 2. Virtual interactive exhibitions providing equal opportunities for filmmakers regardless of physical ability 🎥. 3. 🌊 Film Recommendation: A Journey of Connection and Transformation The moving documentary "My Octopus Teacher," an Oscar winner in 2021, presents the story of an unusual and unlikely friendship between a human and an octopus. However, the narrative goes far beyond this context, leading us to deep reflections about life and our place in the natural world. Craig Foster, the filmmaker behind the documentary, engagingly narrates the significant changes this journey brought to his life. The encounter with the octopus—with its remarkable abilities and instinctive intelligence—challenges our preconceptions about wildlife. Through his daily exploration of South Africa’s waters, the film reveals the power of curiosity, the importance of building relationships based on trust and respect with our ecosystem, and the incredible magic of nature in its perfect balance. These moments of patience and observation lead Craig to reflect on his own path, his family relationships—especially with his son—and his connection with the environment. Ultimately, this patient, meticulous, contemplative, and investigative experience completely transforms Craig, inspiring him to seek a life with more meaning and purpose. His insights culminated in the creation of the Sea Change Project, an organization dedicated to ocean preservation. A powerful life lesson that invites us to reflect on our role on this magical planet, summarized by Craig’s statement: “You’re a part of this place, not a visitor.” A deeply relevant message for the time of profound transformation the Earth and humanity are undergoing. An inspirational true story of resilience and leadership amidst difficulties 💪 In a time and place where failure could affect your life with little or no possibility of a comeback, this story offers myriad invaluable lessons for both business and personal life: nothing is impossible, the importance of true leadership, crisis management, maintaining a positive attitude despite setbacks and failures, and the power of persistence (his family motto was “By Endurance we conquer”). Ernest Shackleton, “the Boss” - one of the most renowned and influential explorers from the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration - identified four key qualities essential for success as a polar explorer and in life: Optimism, Patience, Idealism, and Courage. “I chose life over death for myself and my friends... I believe it is in our nature to explore, to reach out into the unknown. The only true failure would be not to explore at all.” “For scientific discovery give me Scott; for speed and efficiency of travel give me Amundsen; but when disaster strikes and all hope is gone, get down on your knees and pray for Shackleton.” 🌍 Shackleton’s life: https://lnkd.in/dmpyBiyG 📖 Endurance by Alfred Lansing: https://lnkd.in/dKvnqUws 📖 Shackleton by Roland Huntford: https://lnkd.in/d-wHet2g 🎙️ Podcasts: https://lnkd.in/dN6eTnX6 🌟 Leadership practices: https://lnkd.in/dXyMf2-c
Shackleton’s iconic ship Endurance was found in 2022 and is now in the care of UKAHT following a conservation management plan devised in collaboration with Historic England. The story of the wreck’s discovery is told in #EnduranceFilm which premieres at the BFI London Film Festival this October. 🎟 Find out more and book tickets: https://lnkd.in/gZB72J28

Before diving into the vibrant world of Palestinian cinema, there was a time when stories of resilience and cultural richness struggled to find their voice on the screen. Limited by historical upheavals and fragmented production, the brilliance of our narratives was often left untold. The cinematic journey, particularly after the Nakba in 1948, presented enormous challenges for filmmakers, who sought to document the Palestinian experience amidst adversity. Fast forward to today, and we witness an inspiring transformation. Palestinian cinema has blossomed into a powerful medium that resonates globally, highlighting our heritage, struggles, and triumphs. With remarkable directors emerging, such as Hany Abu-Assad and Annemarie Jacir, whose films not only capture the essence of our culture but also garner international acclaim, it is a testament to our unyielding spirit. The road to this resurgence wasn’t easy. It began with passionate individuals and communities coming together to support one another, leading to the establishment of cinema institutions that provided essential resources and platforms. Collaborations between filmmakers, cultural institutions, and Arab film festivals have fueled this phenomenal growth, allowing our stories to shine brightly on the world stage. For those of you looking to embark on a similar journey in storytelling, here are some heartfelt tips: Engage deeply with your roots—immerse in your culture, listen to the stories around you, and never underestimate the power of collaboration. Create a supportive network that cultivates creativity and innovation, allowing every voice to be heard. Reflecting on this journey, it’s clear how vital it is to amplify our narratives. Film is not just entertainment; it’s a vital link to our identity, a chance to showcase who we are, and illuminate our shared humanity. Let's continue to support and celebrate Palestinian cinema, empowering our voice through every frame! 🎥✊ #PalestinianCinema #CulturalHeritage #Filmmaking #SupportLocalArtists #ShareOurStories
