“The laws of physics are poised to shape the future of computing and the digital economy that relies on it. The physics governing the relationship between information and energy dictate the heat generated by today’s computers.” Great to see reversible computing gaining some overdue attention. This is a very readable piece from David Galbraith in Exponential View. Definitely check it out. “Moore’s law is already faltering, just as demand for computational power soars.” This. 💯 And it provides a tremendous opportunity for entrepreneurs and investors. https://lnkd.in/eVDFdGmM #tech #technology #innovation #deeptech #ai #artificialintelligence #computing #compute #startups #entrepreneurs #entrepreneurship #future #vc #venturecapital #money #business

In traditional chips, energy is used to change the state of gates on the silicon, and the waste byproduct is heat. In reversible computing, though, that waste energy from each gate change is recycled to power the next gate change. In practice, this means reversible computing chips are slower than traditional chips but they are wildly energy efficient and generate virtually no heat. Reversible computing is actually not a new technology. It dates back to the 1970s, with the first universal reversible gates built in 1982 – but Vaire is only now optimizing the technology with a multi-core design to make it viable in an AI-driven world.

Seagate Technology Holdings plc (STX): An In-Depth Analysis of Its Position and Growth Potential by Affan Mir via Insider Monkey - Free Hedge Fund and Insider Trading Data ([Global] Quantum Computing) URL: https://ift.tt/huiLSO2 We recently compiled a list of the 7 Best Computer Hardware Stocks to Buy. In this article, we are going to take a look at Seagate Technology Holdings plc (NASDAQ:STX) against the other computer hardware stocks. According to a report by Research and Markets, the computer hardware market is projected to grow from $674.44 billion in 2023 to $710.32 billion in 2024, with a 5.3% compound annual growth rate (CAGR), mainly driven by personal computing, global supply chains, internet expansion, and more data centers. By 2028, the market is expected to reach $914.55 billion at a 6.5% CAGR, fueled by trends like remote work infrastructure, sustainable practices, smart city development, and digital transformation. Key trends include edge computing, AI integration, modular systems, biometric security, and hybrid cloud environments, with significant investments in smart city projects, particularly in China. The most important trends in the advancement of computer hardware are AI and machine learning which are revolutionizing hardware design and enabling applications like autonomous vehicles and robotics. Apart from that, the Internet of Things (IoT) is expanding, connecting more devices in smart homes, cities, and industries. It has led to a focus on improving security, efficiency, and the ability of different IoT devices, systems, and technologies to work together seamlessly. Role of AI in the Growth of the Computer Hardware Industry On May 28, Michael Fertik, founder of Heroic Ventures, joined CNBC’s ‘Squawk Box’ and said that we’re still in a phase of AI development where hardware is crucial. Companies like NVIDIA are thriving because their products are essential for running large AI models, which require immense computational power. He said that this situation is similar to how search engines, like Google or Bing, have long relied on substantial investments in hardware to function effectively. Fertik added that as AI technology evolves, there will be a shift. The costs associated with AI hardware will decrease, and smaller, more specialized AI models will emerge, which will be tailored for specific industries or purposes. When this happens, the focus and financial gains will also move toward software and computer science (software testing and development) companies. However, they will not significantly move from computer hardware companies and they will still benefit from the growing AI industry. Industry Has Room for Growth Beyond AI A major growth prospect for computer hardware is quantum computing, an industry that is expected to reach $11.4 billion by 2027 from $2.74 billion in 2022, according to Research and Markets. Quantum Computing offers significant benefits by improving the speed and effic...

People are paying attention to SambaNova breaking 1,000 tokens/s! VentureBeat reported on this today and refer to our independent benchmarks. The article also deep-dives on the chip and explains their RDU technology. According to SambaNova Systems' CEO, there is also more potential for their SN40L reconfigurable dataflow unit (RDU) chip with "significant gains" possible with software improvements. The CEO notes that "over the last few months, that speed has tripled to the current high of 1000 tokens per second". As we were quoted in the article, the AI chip race is accelerating faster than most expected and the architecture of SambaNova's RDU chips, and that of some competitors supports this. SambaNova's chip is currently "multiple times faster than the typical output tokens/s speed achievable on Nvidia H100s" and this is likely to continue. See below comment for a link to the article:
