At Building Blocks for Peace Foundation, we believe that the contributions of young people towards #peace and #security cannot be overemphasized. · They are involved in preventing violence and recruitment into violent groups. · They promote peace through peer-to-peer education. · They work across communities and religious groups to foster understanding and tolerance. · They build the capacities of other youths to speak up and address grievances constructively… #TogetherforPeace #PeopleBuildingPeace #Youth4Peace #NigeriaYouth4Peace

Truth and Reconciliation Day, observed on September 30th, is a solemn occasion dedicated to honouring the survivors of residential schools and acknowledging the painful history and ongoing impacts of these institutions on Indigenous communities. This day serves as a reminder of the resilience and strength of Indigenous peoples and the importance of truth-telling in the journey towards healing and reconciliation. As we observe Truth and Reconciliation Day, let us pledge to educate ourselves, support Indigenous voices, and work towards a future where respect, understanding, and equality prevail. Together, we can build a more inclusive and just society. #TruthandReconciliationDay

THE SEVEN GENERATIONS PRINCIPLE The Iroquois Confederacy, the oldest living participatory democracy on Earth, created the Great Law of the Haudenosaunee. One of the fundamental principles was that of the seven generations. In government, in civil authority, in relationships, the Seven Generations Principle requires decision makers to set aside the needs of the here and now, and to consider instead the impact of their decision on those who will come up to seven generations in the future. Their wisdom is drawn from considering also the decision their ancestors up to seven generations earlier would have made in the same circumstances. In today’s world we find many struggling with the immediacy of the here and now, stripped of faith and the guidance of religion. The Seven Generations principle can help us to ground our decision making in a wider context. #principles #sevengenerations #7generations #7thgen #decisions #decisionmaking
