Yesterday QBE Insurance had the QBE Pride Month – Not Atypical podcast live session where Kimberley O'Reilly (she/her) expertly moderated an informative session with Nic Hennessy MBA (she/her), Aron Mercer (he/him) and Tara Hadley (she/her). The session had so much heart, sharing the message of the importance of having safe and supportive environments for people to share their lived experience to create better understanding for all. So many great messages that delved into a myriad of things like the need to provide fair and equitable opportunity for all people to gain employment. The need for people, especially People Leaders, to take the approach of curiosity and empathy to support others, to grow together even if they don’t have all the answers. The need to create safe environments and mindsets to support ourselves and our children who are having these lived experiences. The interconnectedness between neurodiversity and LGBTQ+ identities. Just be a good human was a standout message. Such a great session to complement the podcast experience. You can check the podcasts out at https://lnkd.in/gRJKuv9a It's also great that we have a Neurodiversity Workplace Guide at QBE to provide extra context and support. Happy Pride Month! As we celebrate love, diversity, and inclusivity, it's also a great time to think about protecting our loved ones. Here are some important LGBTQ+ estate planning tips: Update Your Will: Ensure your will reflects your current wishes and relationships. Choose the Right Beneficiaries: Review and update beneficiary designations on life insurance and retirement accounts. Power of Attorney: Designate someone you trust for financial and healthcare decisions. Living Trust: Consider a living trust to avoid probate and maintain privacy. Advance Healthcare Directive: Specify your healthcare preferences and designate a healthcare proxy. Guardianship for Children: If you have kids, appoint guardians to ensure their care aligns with your wishes. Taking these steps can provide peace of mind and ensure your loved ones are taken care of according to your wishes. #PrideMonth #LGBTQ #EstatePlanning #LoveIsLove #ProtectYourLegacy

People assume access to insurance coverage is the answer, but transgender individuals often face unique challenges when it comes to insurance coverage. Many face barriers due to exclusionary policies or inadequate coverage. That's why advocating for inclusive insurance policies ensures equitable access to essential healthcare and supports the overall health of the trans community. Comprehensive insurance that includes gender-affirming care—such as hormone therapy, surgeries, and mental health support—is crucial for health and well-being. Let’s push for change, educate ourselves, and support policies that offer fair and comprehensive coverage for everyone. 🌈 . . . #TransHealthcare #InsuranceEquity #TransRights #MondayMinute #Transgender #Trans #Nonbinary #Genderdiversity #Transcare #lgbt #lgbtqiap #lgbtq #Monday

"About one of every six LGBTQ+ adults reports that they do not trust insurance companies and/or the people who work for them." That's double the rate of the general population. This per the article below in InsuranceNewsNet by Steve Wood, the consumer markets research direct at LIMRA. Yet, as the chart from the article below shows, LGBTQ+ adults are more concerned about issues of financial security than the general population. Which raises the question - what is the industry doing to overcome that trust gap in order to help alleviate those financial concerns for this segment of potential consumers? As an openly-gay man in the industry, I actually can't point to much of anything. Sure, a number of carriers have solid ratings from the Human Rights Campaign, but that's more about how they treat their employees than how they are in the market. And that raises another question - why isn't the industry doing more? And thank you to LIMRA for bringing this fascinating article to my attention. https://lnkd.in/e9nuCwm3

Insurance Advisor, Nalawade Insurance Consultancy | Specialising in NRI and FNIO Insurance, Keyman Insurance, Enterprise Risk Management with 95% accuracy ☂️
Why no one is talking about the insurance for Transgenders & LGBTQ+ community? There is so much fight and awareness for the legal rights of this community but still a normal experience of availing financial services is a long way to go. This thought clicked me one day and I have decided to make the insurance experience more inclusive for them. 🏳️🌈The Transgenders and LGBTQ+ community face the following risks and taboos: 🚩They are not very much approached by Insurance agents and they too are not very aware of insurance. 🚩Collating valid documents and certificates is a major task that no insurance agent wants to get involved in. 🚩There might be some hiccups in the approval process that no insurance agent is ready to fight for them. We at Nalawade Insurance Consultancy, understand all these risks to plan a customized solution. We not only make sure that we cover all the additional risks but also make it cost-effective for them. Taking insurance is a basic human necessity and it should not be denied to anyone based on their sexual orientation or identity. If you belong to this community, drop a text at with pride at https://wa.me/9561517898 and we will be prouder to help you. #lgbtq #transgender #insurance #insuranceadvisor
