A book you can read in one go yet you do not want to read in one go. This might look like Palindromic sequence and I promise you it’s not… . This may not be JP Sartre philosophy explaining the absence of mirrors in No Exit, but a simple antidote for autopilot mode and hamster wheels. Context: “The absence of a mirror is significant: It prevents the characters from being able to see themselves with an object; thus, they are forced to see themselves through other people's impressions about them”. A random Amazon suggestion in Feb 2024. Family, Fiendship, community, Ambition, Aspiration, Fun, Food, Connection, Death,Trust, Loss, Love, Grief… and lot more surprises every time you revisit it with refreshed eyes and refurbished experiences. Not a wake up call to leave everything behind but a gentle book that changes your outlook. My only request is to not doubt the intentions of the author, since it was written and published to raise fund for his best coach. My best coach who is 10 years older than me introduced this book 10 years ago in a tier 2 city bookstore with very limited options. It took 10 odd years to get my hands on the book. A pen friend who came to my city by virtue of wedlock and found a better place by leaving value to the people around her. We exchanged two letters in five months, way before meeting each other in person. A random keep well note from my end to a friend of friend. It goes two ways to make any connection beautiful. I hope this book adds value to all the readers. Yup!! I am yet to reach final chapter of this book. "I'm a much different person than I was when I first started visiting him," Albom told NPR. "And I'm happy to give him credit for that." The only philosophy I would not like to budge for the rest of my time is #giversgain.

...AND IT REALLY WASN'T A BIG DEAL, is what I realized - they were more interested in my presence than the absence of my books. If you read my previous post I was freaking out because I had my first in-person poetry reading and didn't get my shipment of books in time. [Imagine an author at an author event WITH NO BOOKS😨] On the day, many things went "wrong" and even after arriving a full 20 minutes before the event, it took THE WHOLE 20 MINUTES to find parking and then I had to pee and then I had to attempt to set up a tripod to capture my first in-person author event. CUE THE CHAOS. But I knew I would've felt at home (afterall it is my home library). The panel went unbelievably well (there's probably only one answer I would've tweaked). So thankful to Mariya (who coordinated the Surrey Libraries event), to the other authors on the panel - Christina and Karen - and the group of folks who came out on a rainy evening. To attempt to fix the "book issue" I had rush ordered business cards with QR codes that would take folks right to Amazon to order their copies. At the end of the evening, I stayed behind a bit - chatting with a few folks (a little embarrassed that I didn't have books laid out). But as I shared my business cards I felt more of a need to create community than push sales. A number of the attendees were aspiring authors and (as the only self-published author) they were interested in my process. I had intended to donate the 2 copies I carried with me (but Paul had already ordered quite a few copies for the library) then two people came up to me asking if I had any books for sale : and I signed and sold the copies I brought with me. Only 2 book sales but on the bright side I sold 100% of the books I carried lol. I had a few other ideas to overshadow the fact that I didn't have my shipment of books, but it turns out...I didn't need them. IN CONCLUSION : it's never that serious and showing up is half the battle 💕
