Sharing some inspiration today! Berkley Mid-Atlantic President Michelle Middleton recently asked some of our exceptional women leaders, including Christina, to discuss the art of tackling challenges. Christina shared her insights: "We all have difficult days, but I know, whatever the challenge is, I have what it takes to face it and overcome it. Especially knowing that my family, my team, and my mentors are always there cheering me on!" Here's more from their conversation 👇 #berkleymidatlantic #womenshistorymonth #peoplefirst

On International Women’s Day 2024, We celebrates the theme "Inspire Inclusion," highlighting our commitment to fostering the participation and inclusion of young women in political leadership. Through our various programs and initiatives, we strive to empower young women with the skills, resources, and confidence to actively engage in decision-making processes and assume leadership roles. We organize workshops, mentorship programs, and advocacy campaigns aimed at breaking barriers and challenging stereotypes that hinder women's participation in politics. By providing platforms for networking, skill-building, and knowledge-sharing, we inspire young women to pursue careers in politics and become effective agents of change in their communities. As we commemorate International Women’s Day, let us all take action to inspire inclusion by supporting and empowering young women to take their place in political leadership roles. Together, we can create a more inclusive and equitable world for all. #iLeadAfrica #IWD2024 #InspireInclusion #WomenInPolitics #EmpoweringYoungWomen

Here are a few highlights of what we were up to last year. Do receive our offering. #ImagineCreateTeach
In 2023, we focused on expanding both our internal and external capacities through building partnerships and reaching new networks, expanding our Transformational Feminist leadership work, and contributing to the realization of bodily autonomy and integrity for young women and girls. The achievements that are highlighted in these areas are a testament to the dedication of our team, the generosity of our partners and the undying commitment of our volunteers and community champions. I had the oppurtunity to appear on the Antigua and Barbuda Observer AM show, with Dr. Jacquie Quinn-Leandro, former member of parlaiment and the first female to be elected to the lower house in Antigua and Barbuda. Fittingly, one of the focal points of our discussion centred on women's political participation nationally, and understanding the structural and systemic gaps that are perpetuating and fueling the exclusion of women from politics. The Directorate will be hosting an event under or Emerging Female Leaders Program, entitled "Picture her power: A brunch with trailblazing women", next month which will feature women who have been and are currently in politics and leadership. The hope is that events such as this will catalyze a rise in interest and opportunities for more women to enter politics, and will transform mindsets that seek to prevent or marginalize women, who are capable and ready to serve and make a difference. Women comprise half of our population, and if we refuse to allow them the opportunity to participate meaningfully, as it relates to politics, we are missing out on an abundance of capacity, innovation, and talent. We all have a part to play in changing this reality!

Marcy Uhrig told me to document discrepancies from other coworkers so we could get to the bottom of “issues”, then literally told me she had no interest in seeing any of my documentation. Marcy placed me on final notice for the same things she allowed other coworkers to do. I was told it would be a two week make it or break it, that at the end of two weeks I will have succeeded or we will part ways. A month later I only get positive reviews, including from Marcy herself. Marcy explained that because I did well, we would go ahead and leave me on final notice. The only mistake that was actually on me was a case where I missed some test numbers that should have been excluded from the results; however, this is part of why everything gets QC’d before being submitted to counsel. Marcy and the VP (Lara) who QC’d before submitting it to counsel used this as an opportunity to belittle and as the only example of why I did not receive a raise, and why it was appropriate to have me on final notice for months. It doesn’t surprise me that JND thinks someone like Marcy, who pits her own teammates against each other, is an example of a leader. Thank you Marcy for the liability you helped create, it’s been useful. #womenshistorymonth #carrythetorch #jndlegaladministration #toxicworkculture #boldlies #marcyuhrig #sedgwick

Congratulations to Morrison Foerster (MoFo) on receiving the Best Company Championing Women Award. MoFo has long championed the success of women within the legal profession and remains committed to the promotion and advancement of its women attorneys. The Women’s Strategy Committee (WSC) works closely with firm leadership to develop strategies that will strengthen their efforts to attract, develop, and retain talented women lawyers. And they walk the talk: 46% of their global Board of Directors are women, and in HK specifically, 59% of their lawyers (including trainee solicitors) are women, and 50% of their partners are women. From implemented innovative programs aimed at supporting women attorneys such as a Sponsorship Program, Women’s Regional Meetings, peer mentoring and a Partner Leadership Forum for junior partners, MoFo has proven their commitment to developing women leaders both in Hong Kong and globally, to advocate for the underrepresented communities, and to support economic development and reduce poverty and inequality. #AmChamHK #AmChamHKWOI #WomenofInfluence #CelebratingHongKongWomen #20YearsOfInfluence #Past #Present #Future #diversity #inclusion #genderequality #WomenLeadership #Leadership
