THE SPIRIT OF ‘CITIZEN-SOLDIERS’ | Since the times of colonial militias, the National Guard Bureau has helped preserve the happiness, dignity, and independence of our country. The Guard’s commitment to our Nation is “Always Ready, Always There.” Every day, they demonstrate their unwavering obligation to protecting and serving the American people. The Guard has played a pivotal role in every major conflict since the Revolutionary War, and they have performed a vital function in their rapid responses to natural disasters, civil unrest, and public health crises. The National Guard epitomizes the spirit of the citizen-soldier, seamlessly blending dedication to duty with deep ties to their communities.
ALWAYS READY, ALWAYS THERE!!!
I constantly see the National Guard hard at work, many with full-time military missions, filling critical gaps in our capabilities. It’s difficult to thank them enough for their service!
As a former member of the National Guard I agree. Not only does the National Guard respond to local needs in a state or territory, they respond to national needs.
Very informative… just to add, if I recall correctly the Massachusetts Militia was the first and it was established in 1636.
Salutes to the saviors & guards, gratitude for service.
Well said sir, Always Ready, Always There!
GOD bless all everyday and stay true to our USA Constitution

2moJust to quibble a bit…the National Guard has indeed been there since colonial times. However, the National Guard Bureau (which should not be confused as being the same as the National Guard) has only been around since (at the earliest) 1903 when the Dick Act was passed and created the Militia Division within the War Department.
