Does packing for a trip stress you out? It’s time to plan ahead and take the stress out of traveling!!! 👜🧳👜 If you missed yesterday’s post, look at my 5 keys for creating a travel capsule so you can pack with ease and know that you will look fabulous every day or your adventure. 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼 Today we are focusing on tip #1: Choose two neutral colors to build your capsule around. My colors will change with the trips I am taking but since black and navy are “core” colors in my wardrobe, usually one of these colors is part of my capsule. For our trip to NYC, I chose black and dark wash denim for my 2 neutrals. On other trips I have chosen black and white, navy and white, and navy and wine for example. You will choose two colors that look great on you. 👍👍👍 We choose neutrals because they mix and match well together. They form a solid base for our wardrobe, and they are classic colors that are not trendy or fleeting. For a successful travel capsule, you will want at least two bottoms (one in each of your neutral colors), and two layering pieces in each neutral. These can be garments that you may want to wear more than one time, depending on the length of your trip. For my recent trip, I chose 3 bottoms and 3 layering garments. 🧳👜🧳 Starting with neutrals doesn’t mean that our travel capsule has to be boring. My love for luxury brands goes far beyond what can seem like pretentiousness or material gain. I believe it does for many. Luxury brands represent history, a commitment to excellence, and resilience in an ever-changing world. For me personally, many luxury brands, especially Bergdorf Goodman, are part of my origin story. Part of how I built a photography brand for the most discerning clientele not having come from that world. What do luxury watches and luxury tailoring have in common? 🕰 On the surface, they might seem worlds apart, but they share a lot, especially in terms of customer experience and the need for personalised service. Both industries demand high precision. The same level of craftsmanship goes into creating a perfect timepiece as goes into crafting a custom-fitted suit. Look at luxury watch adverts. Notice how often a tailored suit is paired with the watch? Anyway, I am finding more and more that retail is no longer about purchasing but something bigger - shared connections. What really connects watches and tailoring: ✅ Emotions drive luxury purchases. ✅ Genuine relationships are crucial for making sales in the luxury market ✅ Effective Selling is About Listening and tailoring the experience to individual needs. ✅ Creating a community of enthusiasts enhances the sense of belonging and passion for the products. So, next time you're deciding between a luxury watch or a custom suit, why not go for both? Luxury isn't about money, it's about distance. When anyone can buy a small piece of Hermès and flaunt it like they've got it on social, people have to find new ways of signaling their status. And they do that by creating distance: distance in time, culture, pace of life, quantity, conspicuousness or aesthetic. Professor Silvia Bellezza's fantastic research on the distance model of status is still in my mind since she spoke to us at Exposure Therapy. It's a single model that beautifully explains every single weird thing we see in the luxury market right now. So the next time you see something luxury that doesn’t make sense to you - like 'why would somebody ever buy that?!' or 'who would want to wear that?!' - don't look at it in terms of money. Look at it in terms of distance and it'll probably make sense. #luxury #branding #brandstrategy
