Day 05/10 of "𝐀𝐧𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞" 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 : 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞? 𝐀𝐧𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐫 : Students often seek advice on when to start internships and what kind of experience is necessary to secure a job. The answer to this is that once you are in your second year of architecture and you have some what figured out what all the lines on the papers mean, you are ready for an internship. I can never stress enough the importance of working for a skilled architect who has mastered the art of architecture over the years, and yes even if its just getting him/her their morning coffee and nothing else, still do it. The effect of associating and surrounding yourself with people filled with knowledge and talent will give you compounding results. Here what you will get from interning : 1. Your ability to work on real life projects will increase. 2. You will get to learn the thought process of how an architect develops design concepts and solves problems. 3. Huge boost to your network with addition of people who actually hold importance in the field. 4. Your risk taking capability will boost. 5. You will get tons and tons of advice on how to get better at college as well as the real world. 6. You will have created a strong portfolio of real life projects once you go out searching for jobs Bonus : If you are a scatter brain , you will have a baseline for you to start developing your own style as an architect. Concluding, internships will teach you way more about architecture and life, than what you could learn in college. Go do as many internships as you can. Stay tuned for more advice, Comment below any question you have regarding architecture & Keep Growing ! 🤗 #archietcure #interships #archietctureinterships #archiinterships #archistudent #archilife #solvingarchitecture #architectureadvice #archiadvice

Couple more days to submit ideas into the hopper for student team design projects! ⏳️ Send over a 100-word project description if you'd like to get involved. 👨👩👦👦👨👦Projects will be carried out by a team of 6 students at Durham, each spending around 200 hours. 🧐 We match and assign your ideas to supervisors. 🤠 Student teams bid on projects once assigned and posted. 🫖 Weekly project team meetings from November through to March with 2 staff tutors. You can come along for some of these if you're available. 🪺 Prototyping is mandatory, so everyone walks away with a tangible outcome. Architectural education in India needs a transformative shift to keep pace with advancements in construction technology, materials, and environmental concerns. An interdisciplinary approach is key, seamlessly connecting theory with practical applications through site visits, industry engagements, and workshops. Internships play a vital role in bridging the academic-professional gap, providing students with real-world insights. Evaluating design should move beyond presentations to holistic assessments, replicating real-world challenges. #architectureanddesign #architecturaleducation #architectureindustry #constructionindustry

Nabanita got a Research Internship at IITD’s Design department on her FIRST cold email, even though she’s an English major at LSR. We often look at examples of how common things are while deciding what we should do. For example, maybe Nabanita had never seen or heard of a non-design student getting a research internship in design. So, she didn’t think it was possible. And so, she didn’t even try. But, when she stopped self-rejecting and took action, She got the internship, despite not being from a design background or a reputed design school. And I have the same story. I still can’t believe all of the things that happened to me just because I took action. I owe a lot of my “success” to taking action, not exaggerating. If you’re ready to take action, I plan to launch a free 5-day, email-based course on how to get your dream research internship :D To know when the course is out (hopefully this year), sign up at https://lnkd.in/gDbqtR4N
