Almost 5 Years after its launch🚀, here comes the new release of the EPiC✨ Database📚 and its related tools🔧. A quick reminder: the EPiC✨ Database📚 is the only database of hybrid embodied environmental flows🔀 coefficients for construction🏗 materials in the world🌎🌍🌏. It combines detailed industry🏭 data with macro-economic💰 data to provide a complete💯 coverage of material supply chains⛓, on a material basis (e.g. 1 m³ of 25 MPa concrete, 1 m² of paint, etc.). 🌟Key features of what Robert C., Fabian Prideaux and myself have been working on lately include: 🟢125‼ new construction🏗 products bringing the total to 409 (up from 284, or +44% 📈) 🟢New EPiC✨ Grasshopper🦗 plugin version (with all new materials, faster⏩, and compatible with Rhino🦏 8) 🟢New epicdb python🐍 package📦 integrating the latest EPiC✨ Database📚 We added 94🙌 new concrete products, including additional variants for alternative↪ concrete products that include fly ash🌋 and ground granulated blast-furnace slag, with products now ranging from 10-60% supplementary cementitious material content. Merging custom generative frameworks and rule-based procedural workflows couldn’t have been this easy. Sometimes, you just come across some tools which really take your attention. Recently, I stumbled upon ArcGIS CityEngine, a plugin for grasshopper that bridges the gap between parametric design and procedural modeling. With this, custom Rule packages of CityEngine can directly be imported and integrated into GH, blending procedural rule sets with parametric abilities, extending the urban masses into precise rule based models. I wish I knew about this plugin when I was working on my thesis! Would've been so much fun to integrate it with the GH framework I prepared. I'm surely going to try it now. I have a quick Grasshopper data tip for you before the weekend! How to weave two data trees together with a pattern 🌳⬇️ This can be used when you have two or more data trees with the same number of branches. You can pick from one tree or the other in parallel, based off of a pattern or condition. 👆 I had to dig up this trick for an Andalusia Design script.
