On April 5th, 2023, we lost a profound partner, colleague, and friend. One year later, we honor our Founder and everything that his life represented. To all those reflecting on Leon Levine's legacy today: may his memory be a blessing.
Many causes and people were empowered by this man’s (and his family) generosity across the Carolina’s.
Did some Real Estate business with the family in the late 90's. Leon was always a gentleman. In my late teens I worked part time for his brother @ Sherman's Ltd. clothing. I've always had very high regard for the Levine family. They always gave back to Charlotte.
One outstanding man and friend 🩵
Been a recent blesssing to us and we are thankful
Such a great guy.
A beautiful soul
An extraordinary couple. A man of great character. Generous beyond measure. True visionaries.
Life-long real estate professional whose career consists of valuable transactional, site selection, acquisition, leasing, lease renewal, asset/property/project/facilities & administrative management experiences.
5moWorking for Leon Levine had a HUGE impact on my career. Family Dollar was an amazing place to be when he was the boss. Mr. Simmons could write a book for sure. Retail history....In 1959, Walmart, Dollar General, Target, and Family Dollar all got their starts. Most founders where white GI Bill recipient veterans. Mr Levine didn't steal from his own company like most of the CEO bonus baby's running today's corporate America - I respected his drive and work ethic. I believe Howard Levine is as important to the modern history of American retail as Sam Walton. I worked in real estate for both FDO & Walmart, met the founders and/or their relatives themselves, working in close setting with a many. It's a shame and hard to witness what has happened to Mr. Levine's baby since his involuntary removal from FDO. I remember the day. People loved him. Yes, his philanthropy and generosity will always be appreciated and remembered, but unfortunately most will remember what has happened to his retail creation, Leon's baby, in only one sad and pitiful generation. Peace Mr. Levine....Thank you for the memories. Some day I'll post my memories of a corp flight I took with you & Gil Lafare, touring Charleston & Hilton Head
