Happy Earth Day! 🌍🌱 This year's theme was Planet vs Plastic and we at GE Vernova celebrated #EarthWeek with a range of activities across the globe. We had individual challenges everyday and my trusty water bottle and I were closely united as I am making a conscious decision to reduce single-use plastic. In Lagos, Nigeria, we wrapped up the week with a sustainability challenge where employees shared their ideas on creating a more sustainable future for Nigeria. The Essays submitted were truly inspiring and brimming with ideas - congratulations to all the winners. Additionally, there were insightful debates on the impact of fast fashion, carbon emissions, the carbon credit scheme and what it really means for certain countries on the energy poverty scale. We also had a chance to engage in great conversations and a personal challenge to reducing our individual carbon footprint through small but impactful changes such as carpooling, recycling, and ditching single-use plastics. Can I challenge you to do the same ? - Grab a reusable shopping bag next time you go grocery shopping… - Decline that plastic cockery when you order in… And the list goes on.. it’s easy but it has to be conscious.
