Safety first at D.A. Johnstone Plant Hire 🦺 D.A. Johnstone Plant Hire has expanded its fleet with the addition of a 30-tonne Hyundai HX300AL, sourced from ourselves. Equipped with a Cummins B6.7 engine delivering 195kW (260hp), the HX300AL features an Eco Gauge aimed at lowering emissions and costs. This innovative gauge displays engine workload and fuel-saving status, enhancing efficiency. Established in 1996, D.A. Johnstone began life as a hire company with just one machine and since then has grown into a major player in the industry. Over the last three years, owner David Johnstone has been updating the fleet to improve fuel economy and safety. The company currently operates a Hyundai HX130A LCR, an HX140AL, three HX210AL excavators and the new HX300AL. “Our fleet is predominantly made up of Hyundai machines now, mostly the 30-tonne, 20-tonne and 14-tonne excavators. We happened to try out a second-hand machine a few years ago and were instantly converted to Hyundai, they really are fantastic excavators. They are strong, fast, and the support we receive from our dealer, Taylor and Braithwaite, is second to none." “The main selling point for us, however, is the safety element. This really is a huge priority for us, particularly as we work with Highways England, who insist upon the highest levels of safety on site. The camera system is a game-changer. When our machines are out on busy sites, the operators feel so much more confident, because they know what is happening around them and can continue with their task without worrying about people or objects in their way.” Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eaVHz5G6 #PlantHire #HDHyundai #TaylorAndBraithwaite

Volvo reveals new compact excavators for North America Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has replaced three of its compact excavator models with two new tracked models, the EC37 and the ECR40. Replacing the company’s EC35D, ECR35D and ECR40D machines, the new EC37 and ECR40 are designed specifically for contractors in North America. They offer upgraded features for operator comfort and are said to be 10% more fuel efficient than the previous the company’s previous models, while also offering better stability and easier maintenance. Darren Ashton, product manager — compact equipment at Volvo CE, said: “The 3- to 4-ton size makes up more than a quarter of the compact excavator market in North America, and we’re excited to refresh our offering in that range. I think our customers will be very happy with the improvements we’ve made based on their feedback.” The mini excavators, which will be debuted at the upcoming ARA Show in New Orleans, Louisana, in February, both feature the Volvo D1.7A engine, which has a power output of 25 hp (18.5 kW) and an engine speed of 2,200 r/min. Volvo CE said: “Work modes now include an ECO mode and an auto engine shutdown in addition to the existing auto engine idle. With auto engine shutdown, hours not worked are not recorded, keeping the machine operating efficiently for longer while reducing maintenance costs. This also contributes to a 10% boost in fuel efficiency.” As well as incorporating the same platform and components, the models also share a number of other features. These include a breakout force of 35.5 kN (7,900 lbf), a slew speed of 9 rpm and a maximum travel speed of 4.6 km/h (2.86 mph). The primary difference between the 3.5-t EC37 and the 4-t ECR40 is their tail swing radius. While the EC37 has a conventional tail swing design, the ECR40 is a more compact short swing radius excavator. Hyundai expands mini excavator range Hyundai has unveiled a new batch of mini excavator models with operating weights of 1.7 to 5.5-tonnes. The new compact excavators join existing HD Hyundai mini and midi crawler machines to form a 12-model range, from the 1-tonne HX10A micro to the 9-tonne HX85A. Five of the mini excavators—the HX17A Z, HX19A, HX35A Z, HX40A, and the HX48A Z—have launched recently. The 2.5-tonne, 3.0-tonne, and 5.0-tonne models will follow in the second quarter of 2024. HD Hyundai Construction Equipment Europe says that its A-Series machines “set new levels of performance and productivity, delivering reduced emissions, increased hydraulic capabilities and improved operator comfort”.While all models feature compact dimensions, those with a ‘z’ suffix have a zero-tail swing design and can be supplied with additional counterweight if required to increase stability during heavy lifting operations. Hyundai says that variable-width undercarriages on the smaller models also deliver maximum stability for heavy digging and lifting tasks. Safety valves are standard on all boom, dipper arm and dozer blade hydraulic cylinders. The boom arm and bucket cylinders also come with guards to protect hydraulic rams. All machines can be supplied with optional quick-coupler piping. A float function is now included in the dozer blade hydraulics, while an optional angle blade is available on HX35A Z and above. Inside the cab, an improved air conditioning system is available on larger machines as an option, and noise levels have been reduced internally and externally. The cab has Bluetooth connectivity, and the machines come with a waterproof five-inch digital display. In addition to providing operating data, this monitor can be used to programme auxiliary hydraulic flow settings for a range of powered attachments. The screen is also used to set the anti-theft protection code. All these machines use hydraulic joysticks similar to those found on larger A-Series excavators. For optional auxiliary flow control, proportional roller switches can be supplied in the joystick heads. Hydraulic components have been repositioned, and the main control valve is now installed on the right of the machine for service convenience. #constructionindustry #diggers #excavators #plantequipment

Most new Komatsu machines are purchased with a service contract which brings peace of mind to owners & operators who want to protect their investments. When the contract approaches its finish date, it’s natural for any owner to question whether it’s worth renewing the contract for a further term – questions such as… 1. Am I planning to sell the machine? 2. How much work has the machine got? 3. Is there a big project on the horizon? 4. Do I want to replace the machine with a newer model? Interval services represent the first defence against machine downtime and poor performance – by renewing your contract, you guarantee services are conducted on time and with genuine filters & oils. Our service controllers will endeavour to take all the stress out of scheduling services at a convenient time & place, so that your project is not disturbed, and operators are not inconvenienced. Did you know there are different contract renewal options? Contact your local PSSR for the contract renewal options to suit your machines - https://buff.ly/3iQTKqV #CreatingValueTogether #MarubeniKomatsu #Komatsu #UKconstruction #electric #excavator #dozer #dumptruck #wheelloader #digger #utility #backhoe #motorgrader
