There is now a solid gold currency in bill form, which you can even get at an ATM. This is a local, private currency denominated in "Goldbacks." So, it should not run afoul of the US Secret Service. It looks like the smallest denomination is worth $4.20. "The Goldback® is the world’s first physical, interchangeable, gold money, that is designed to accommodate even small transactions...." and are made "using 5th-generation vacuum deposition technology."
