Exit time for exit polls? As we decode state assembly verdict numbers pouring in yet for Haryana & J&K, one big take away that merits attention as well is the veracity of exit polls. Is it exit time for exit polls? Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Orissa, for the recently held state assembly polls and the big failure in predicting 2024 Lok Sabha elections. It is loss of confidence. I am a great believer in data but not sure about data use. India is a pulsating democracy but in its womb is complexity, unpredictability and voter supremacy. As I pitch for more power to the voter, I wish many of my pollster friends to not lose heart but stay invested in the science of data. Yes, invest in the nuance and not noise, perhaps for better results. #electionresults #pollsters #opinionpolls #democracy #haryana #jammuandkashmir

You will see a sea of change in Bihar soon. If my assessment of ground plans and feedback from audience is right, next assembly elections in Bihar would be a game-changing moment for the state and Indian Politics. A repeat is anticipated like what AAP was able to do in Delhi 2015 Assembly elections. I am super hopeful for Bihar and Jan Suraaj is giving me that hope. You should know better than to take those exit polls at face value—just as pollsters find data to confirm their own biases, we gravitate to pollsters who confirm our biases. Exit polls, some will remember, did go spectacularly wrong in 2004—remember the BJP’s ‘India Shining’ campaign? They went wrong in various assembly elections too— Bihar and Delhi in 2015, Uttar Pradesh in 2017, Karnataka in 2023, to name just a few. The INDIA bloc—with Rahul Gandhi as its undeclared mascot, and the likes of Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray, Tejashwi Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav ably holding it up through all the attempts to destabilise the Opposition—managed to set the agenda for these elections. They fought for the voters' mind space, for their everyday concerns—inflation and unemployment—and against the long-term consequences of the BJP’s assaults on the Constitution, if they returned to power. While we await the final verdict by EOD today, click the link in our bio to read the full story by Uttam Sengupta. The BJP's Southern Ambitions: Charting the Path to 370 Seats in the 2024 Elections. The BJP is laser-focused on expanding its footprint south of the Vindhya ranges for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. To reach its target of 370 seats, the party needs to make major gains in southern India, as it has largely maxed out in the northern, central and western regions. The BJP's southern strategy centers on three states where it drew a blank in 2019 - Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. It has forged alliances in Andhra, positioned itself as the NDA leader in Tamil Nadu, and aims to breach the bipolar politics of Kerala. Retaining numbers in Karnataka and potentially adding seats in Telangana are also part of the plan. For the Congress too, the southern states are critical to increasing their tally, making the battle for the south a key priority for both national parties in 2024. https://lnkd.in/gvHTCY2g ✍: #DrSandeepShastri #BJP2024Strategy #SouthernPenetration #LokSabhaElections2024 #VindhyaDivide #CongressVsBJP #StateofTheSouth #PoliticalBalanceOfPower #IndiaElections2024 #SouthIndiaFocus #ElectoralBattleground #BJPSouthernPush #2024LokSabhaGoal #SouthIndiaChallenge #RegionalAlliances #AndhraPradeshBJPMove #TamilNaduNDALeadership #KeralaBJPToeholdHope #TelanganaCongressResurgence #KarnatakaRetentionPlans #SouthernComfort2024 #NationalPartiesEyeSouth #PoliticsOfTheVindhyas
