We’re delighted to announce plans for Respond to join the Bild Group this year. We will continue our vital work offering people with learning disabilities and autistic people who have experienced trauma access to specialist psychotherapy, advocacy and trauma-informed training and consultation. Respond will join three other charities within the Bild Group – Bild, the Restraint Reduction Network and Bild Association of Certified Training – uniting our shared commitment to supporting people with learning disabilities and autistic people through trauma-informed working and championing human rights. All charities within the Bild Group operate with their own Board of Trustees and governance arrangements, whilst sharing a common goal – to help build a more inclusive society where everyone can enjoy the same rights and opportunities. There will be no changes to the services received by our clients. We will continue to be London-based, whilst also offering remote support, and will maintain our Respond name, brand and identity. Rethink biases: Community Leaders I appreciate all that is being done in my community to support single mothers and children with disabilities but, I have a problem in how it's being done. If you truly want to help, empower them, advocate for resources that could make them independent and self- sufficient. Talk about their empowerment and resilience. Do not reinforce the existing stereotypes by asking for continuous donations for them especially on public forums. Refer them to the right resources. Do not further otherize them by pitying them directly or indirectly. Their circumstances do not define them. Do not reinforce and strengthen their already internalized sense of inferiority by assuming a saviour role to glorify yourself. Rethink and unlearn your biases and false sense of superiority. #CommunityDevelopment #equitydiversityinclusion

Before you donate to Autism Speaks, consider the facts. According to The Autistic Self Advocacy Network, an organization that promotes the rights and inclusion of autistic people, very little money donated to Autism Speaks goes toward helping autistic individuals and their families. Additionally, Autism Speaks' advertisements and 'awareness' campaigns often portray autistic adults and children as burdens on society that must be eliminated as soon as possible, rather than full human beings deserving of respect and support. Instead, consider supporting The Autistic Self Advocacy Network or another organization that prioritizes the voices and needs of autistic individuals. Ambitious about Autism is the national charity standing with autistic children and young people. The charity’s vision is a future where every autistic child and young person can be themselves and realise their ambitions. Ambitious about Autism also runs national programmes to support autistic young people across the UK, including an employment programme called Employ Autism and a growing online youth network, the Ambitious Youth Network. On National Build Day, Alabama Professional Services and Sleep in Heavenly Peace joined forces to tackle a daunting issue: child bedlessness. This initiative aimed to provide hand-made beds to children who, without this support, would have to sleep on floors or couches, contributing to severe health and emotional challenges. Reflecting on my own experiences, I remember volunteering for community projects similar to this where we came together, rolled up our sleeves, and made a tangible impact. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about working collectively to uplift those in need—it's a reminder of the positive change we can create in our communities. Did you know that sleep deprivation can lead to hyperactivity, anxiety, and depression in children?
