Aspiring actors, listen up! If you're looking to expand your potential roles, having a smiling commercial shot and a serious theatrical photo is a must. But why stop there? Consider your goals in the field and the types of roles you're interested in to increase your chances of getting cast. It's recommended to have at least 4-6 headshots, including a primary headshot and a few examples of roles you plan on going out for. Don't limit yourself and make sure you're prepared for any opportunity that comes your way. #actingtips #headshots #casting #actingheadshots #portraits #actingportfolio #versatility #dreamroles #torontoacting #torontoactingagency #torontoactingstudios #acting #modeling #torontomodeling #torontomodelingagency #toronto #torontophotographer

Oftentimes I'm asked for my comments on the shortlisted cast, before the training starts and this happens. (There's really not much creative thinking in casting in the "creative" fields but Its just the nature of the business and one must accept it) It does get silly though when the agency or the wannabe film maker brand manager asks for "variations" or "subtle acting" on the day of shoot from child actors with limited acting skills thanks to the client's casting decisions. One can only do so much when you have one day of training (2-4 hours in the case of kids) Also limiting budgets mean less training hours needed for fine performances that will net that #abby #cannes or whatever award you're gunning for. 😬 Its not tough working with kids and animals. You need reasonable training time and sensible casting decisions. "cute" is just one factor. #agency #client #Advertising #tvcommercial #awards #brandmanagers #filmproduction #comedy #creatives

Worked with an #acting #coaching client on how different roles take up different amounts of space and how we maintain safety and control as an actor even as our characters can lose their self-control. Cool to see them pivot the objectives they pursued and played to change the space they take up. #ActingCoach #ActingCoaching

"Is there something I can do for you" - acting lesson from Tom Hanks You may think you have a small part. Just one or two lines. Recently, Tom Hanks coached aspiring actors at Oxford to focus on one line "Is there anything I can do for you?". This line can fall flat or rise to the stars. He said actors should "stretch the concept of the empathetic moment and say things so beautifully and so truthfully and so accurately and so real that even if their only line "is there something I can do for you?" - you can move mountains." The same advice goes towards all professions. Do your part. Do it well. Check out the full acting class here: https://lnkd.in/euFY8A2m

In acting, the audition is the job. You better love what you do, because you don’t want to be miserable AND broke. To not be broke… develop a network and work it; self-submit for auditions; find side-work in your craft - medical schools hire actors to help train students and mystery dinner theaters hire actors for money+meals; use social media to highlight your non-acting skills and passions.

I help actors nail auditions and land roles! Online and in-person classes. Acting Instructor | Meisner Technique | Improvisation | Team Building
🎬 Expecting to land auditions before you’ve done the work of studying the craft and business of acting is like trying to run a marathon before you can walk a mile. And at the risk of exhausting the acting adage, ‘this industry is a marathon, not a sprint,’ athletes train consistently, even in their off season. Yes, you will always hear about the exceptions who landed that one audition for that one project. But like a marathon they never trained for, it isn’t sustainable if you aren’t strengthening your muscles and investing in your long-term goals. In short, the process may be a lot more painful than it needs to be if you’re not putting in the work. Many of our students started with zero experience. But they committed to their training and learned about the business. Now many of them are working actors who are confident in their auditions. They don’t worry about landing roles, which means they are more likely to ‘win the room,’ creating rapport with casting directors for future projects. What skills or training are you doing or looking forward to in 2024 to support your acting career? Share with us below.
