Milking The Cow Are We "Milking the Cow" or Nurturing the Herd? In the social care sector, the heart of our work lies in the hands of our dedicated professionals. Yet, in the rush to meet increasing demands, it's easy for organisations to focus solely on short-term gains, squeezing every last drop of energy and compassion from their teams. But at what cost? Too often, I see social care providers treating their teams like a resource to be exploited rather than a vital asset to be nurtured. We push our care workers to the brink, draining their passion, well-being, and resilience. This short-sighted approach might help meet immediate needs, but it’s unsustainable in the long run. The true strength of any social care organisation lies in its people. Like any valuable resource, they need to be invested in, supported, and respected. When we take care of our teams - providing them with the tools, growth opportunities, and emotional support they deserve - we cultivate a culture of compassion, loyalty, and long-term success. Food for thought: Are we creating environments where our social care professionals can thrive, or are we merely "milking the cow" until there’s nothing left? It’s time for us to take responsibility and rethink our approach. Let’s shift from exploitation to empowerment, from extraction to cultivation. Let's build social care organisations that value and nurture their human resources - not just for the sake of our people, but for the future of the care we provide. Join us in building a lasting culture of care. Together, we can elevate the standards of your care teams and make a significant impact. Connect with us to learn more, share your stories, and collaborate on creating a brighter, more compassionate future. I work 1:1, so that 1:many can be possible. Here at OURS, one of the main objectives is to pay connection forward. Personally, I don't think there are any “get-socially-rich-quick” schemes - at least, none that will work long term, without putting in some time and effort. However, I believe that it is ABSOLUTELY possible to supercharge our social wellbeing and grow our social “wealth”. Once we’ve done that, one of the best ways to maintain and grow that wealth further is to give it out. When high-impact individuals can understand and transcend loneliness, it opens up a whole new world of possibility. Individuals can then have the tools and confidence to become social changemakers within their family, community, or organisation - all while enjoying better social wellbeing themselves. Pop over to www.ourstolive.com if you’d like to book a chat. #OURS #socialwellbeing #getrich #payitforward Reflections: * In which areas of my life am I truly rich? * In which areas of my life could I build more wealth? * How can I pay different types of wealth forward?

Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Writer & Advocate for Social Work Licensure Policy, Pay, and Professional Progression. | Owner of The Social Work Incubator®️ | Talk Show Host of #thesocialworkmovement Docuseries
I was sooo frustrated with hearing from the bitter, broke, and burn-out social worker so I created #thesocialworkmovement. I am a Social Impact Speaker & Strategist who is on a mission to change the global narrative of the social work profession for social workers to be valued, respected, and well-compensated. Social Workers are sooo much more than child welfare workers and we are no longer being martyrs for the sake of “wanting to help” and being a female-dominated industry.👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Social Workers are CEOs, project managers, corporate consultants, therapists, case managers, business owners and pretty much we work in every industry where individuals and corporations desire solutions to their pressing challenges or desires.🤩 It is beyond time for the voices of Social Workers who are like me, who love the profession, who make and make a difference, and who boldly and unapologetically maximize and monetize their education, expertise, and experiences to be heard. Out with the bitter, broke, and burn-out narrative of the social work profession.🙅🏽♀️ I am #empoweringsocialworkers to get clear on their next steps and execute so they can have even more social impact, money, and time for self-care, family, philanthropy, and travel!🎊🙌🏾 I went from social assistance recipient to six-figure social work entrepreneur even as a Mom who is Single; I know 💯 you can transform your life too!✨🧘🏾♀️ Subscribe to get notifications about #thesocialworkmovement docuseries: https://lnkd.in/evae3Kps I am asking you to support me in changing the global narrative of the social work profession through #thesocialworkmovement as part of Social Impact Sundays at 6 and here are 5 ways to get involved: https://lnkd.in/e6zWbkrv #socialwork #socialworker #socialworkers #therapist #socialimpact #talkshow #talkshowhost #NASW

Men's Health Week is a great reason to be vocal about the support men need with their physical health and mental wellbeing, in the workplace. Let's look at how tough it is to be a man in 2024: * Four in five suicides are men * One in five men will die before the retirement age of 65 * A huge 95% of farmers under 40 say that poor mental health is a hidden issue in their industry * A third of workers in construction live with severe levels of anxiety * Actions taken to improve the gender balance in organisations can leave men feeling sidelined and discriminated against Use this initiative as a reason to look at workplace changes that you could put in place to protect the health and wellbeing of men you employ. Can you make help and support more easily accessible? Organisations with happy, healthy staff are more productive as well as nicer places to be. 📢 Shout out to the amazing men I work with at @Hanover and @City CV. If ever you need someone to talk to, my kettle will be on and the door is open. No stigma, no judgement. ♥ Statistics Mates in Mind Men's Health Forum ♥ Hanover City CV | International Career Consultancy | Hanover Group #menshealthweek2024 #wellbeingatwork #diversity #equality James Emmett, Stephen Phipps, Paul Groarke, Chris Cave, Deepan S., Clinton Poore, Laurence Ashby, Alistair Brindley, Andrew Bayliss, Brent Herman, Mem Kortach, Michael Stefan, Peter Jackson, Rob Bulpitt, Rory O'Hegarty

Helping the nation's TOP Social Capital CEOs share their ideas on how to do business better by respecting people.
SOCIAL CAPITAL IN ACTION: In Germany, where AAA Translation founder Susanne Evens grew up, perks like massages and 30 days annually of vacation are standard. And parents are entitled to up to three years of parental leave per child, which can be split continuously or shared among parents. However, Evens found that in the U.S., prevailing workplace practices — which allowed for little flexibility and limited wellness benefits in many companies — were hard on single mothers like herself. So, when Evens started AAA Translation, she was determined to do things differently. Her business is virtual and prioritizes flexible work arrangements, with remote options, flexible options and unlimited time off. 🌿🌍 Embracing Buen Vivir: Catalyzing Transformative Change on World Social Work Day 2024! 🌍🌿 As we mark World Social Work Day on March 19, 2024, we delve into the profound theme of 'Buen Vivir: Shared Future for Transformative Change.' This year’s theme, deeply rooted in the Global Agenda, underscores the imperative for social workers to adopt innovative, community-led approaches grounded in indigenous wisdom and a harmonious coexistence with nature. In the spirit of #WSWD2024, let's reflect on the significance of Buen Vivir and its potential to shape a future where communities flourish through mutual respect and sustainability. It's a poignant reminder of the transformative role social workers play in driving positive change. Joachim Mumba, IFSW President, aptly captures the essence of this theme, stating, "Buen Vivir resonates deeply with the core values of social work." It beckons us to envision a future where social workers collaborate with local communities, co-designing and co-building peaceful, resilient societies critical to our shared sustainable futures. This World Social Work Day, let's unite in embracing Buen Vivir as more than just a concept but as a guiding principle for action. Together, let's champion a world where the well-being of communities and the environment are intertwined, where every individual is empowered to lead a life of dignity and fulfillment. Join us in honoring the invaluable contributions of social workers worldwide as they pave the way for a future where humanity and nature thrive in harmony. Together, let's embark on a journey towards transformative change.
