Founder & CEO| Strickland Health Consulting, LLC | The Public Health Club | Health Equity Specialist | Career & Consulting Coach | Adjunct Professor | For Career & Consulting Advice 👉 Join the Public Health Club!
Here's some tips to help with responding to RFPs as a Public Health Consultant! Don't forget to RSVP in the club for the upcoming "Best Practices in Applying to RFPs!" event coming up next week!👇 (Remember you can find non-federal public health consulting opportunities in The Public Health Club!) 1. Determine if the opportunity is worth your time. - Assess your skills and the alignment with the opportunity ( Do you have exactly what they want?) -Is the money worth your time? Even in the consulting world some opportunities are just not worth the time and effort. 2. Read the FULL RFP! You'd be surprised at how many people don't read the full RFP. (They can be lengthy) 3. Always ask questions and attend the live q&a sessions! This is your first impression, and please do not ask a question that can be found in the RFP. 4.Activate those proposal writing skills and really paint the picture of how you can be exactly what the organization needs.

These errors often result in earnings that should be bolstering hospital finances instead being returned as denials, which affects the bottom line. 📉 By identifying and addressing these common mistakes, healthcare facilities can enhance their financial health and ensure that revenue is captured efficiently and effectively. ➖➖➖ Over the last 25+ years as an MD with an MBA and MPH, I have worked with 3 Multi-Million dollar Hospital organizations serving as VPMA and CMO saving millions of dollars and improving quality. Quite often we think that leadership and strategic planning in health is for the politicians, insurers and the various commissioners. This is wrong; clinical leaders, and those involved in the healthcare model provision, should have skills, knowledge, awareness and opinion about the health system structure of their organization! I am so keen and passionate to keep developing my knowledge in this sector, such a fascinating field, indeed!

🌟 New CEO Chronicles: The Great Grant Adventure 🌟 Picture this: Newly appointed CEO at Medical Health Associates of Western New York, coffee in one hand ☕, a mountain of grant paperwork in the other 📄. I've tackled EMR outages, budgets, managed teams, and even figured out how to work the coffee machine... but grants? Grants are like trying to navigate through an enchanted forest with a broken compass 🧭. Step 1: Read the grant guidelines. Me: Easy peasy! Grant guidelines: "Please see Appendix C, subsection 45.3 for clarification." Appendix C, subsection 45.3: "Please refer to the glossary for definitions." Glossary: "Definitions are located in the addendum." Me: 🤯 So much for easy peasy! Step 2: Fill out the application. Me: "Describe your project in 150 characters or less." Also Me: Accidentally writes a novel only to receive “you are over the character limit”. Step 3: Submit before the deadline. Grant Portal: (once I was able to log in!) "Your file is too large. Please resize." Me: Resizes. Grant Portal: "Your file is too small. Please re-upload." Me: Screams into the void, why is this so challenging? But hey, we’re making progress! One forgotten password, followed by one typo at a time! 😂 To all my fellow grant warriors out there, may your applications be accepted, your budgets be balanced, and your appendices be mercifully brief. We’ve got this! 💪 #NewCEO #GrantWriting #AdventuresInFunding #CEOProblems #Perseverance
