Embracing Empathy: Navigating Memory Lapses in Therapy Reflecting on my experience when a patient doesn't recall our previous session, I initially felt a twinge of disappointment and self-doubt. However, I quickly reminded myself that memory lapses are common and not a reflection of my abilities as a therapist. Instead, I approached the situation with curiosity and empathy. Listening to their uncertainty, I acknowledged their struggle and gently guided them through a recap of our last session. Sharing my understanding of their emotional journey and offering reassurance, I created a safe space for them to express any concerns or frustrations. In response, I integrated repetition and summary techniques into our sessions, ensuring clarity and continuity. Witnessing their gradual progress and growing confidence reaffirmed the importance of patience and adaptability in my practice. Overall, by embracing empathy and flexibility, I learned to navigate these moments with grace, fostering a stronger therapeutic bond and facilitating meaningful growth for my patients.

Dr. Peter Pearson introduces The NEW 2-Chair technique, a dynamic approach to therapy that helps clients engage with the conflicting parts of themselves—bridging internal struggles between what they 'should' do and what they desire. Here’s what The NEW 2-Chair work brings to your sessions: Internal Dialogue: Facilitates a meaningful conversation between the self-critical voice and the part yearning for change. Therapeutic Guidance: As therapists, you orchestrate this dialogue, helping clients to see their internal conflicts clearly and promoting empathy between their contrasting selves. Empathetic Resolution: This method allows clients to understand and reconcile their internal divisions, fostering profound empathy and self-awareness. The result is a transformative therapeutic experience that unlocks deeper understanding and healing. Join Dr. Pearson for "The NEW 2-Chair: Interventions for Healing the Fractured Self," a comprehensive six-session series focused on mastering this technique. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy offers valuable tools for both therapists and clients to acknowledge and accept the entirety of their thoughts and emotions, fostering genuine growth and healing by moving beyond avoidance or suppression. Providers interested in learning more about how to implement Acceptance and Commitment Therapy principles into their session are invited to attend this upcoming CE-eligible, board-approved virtual workshop this April 5th to gain a broader perspective on navigating challenging life emotions and circumstances. https://smpl.is/8v9fo - #AcceptanceandCommitmentTherapy

Leaving a review for your therapist is important for a few reasons. Firstly, it can help others who are searching for a therapist to make an informed decision based on your feedback. Secondly, it provides valuable insight for the therapist themselves, helping them understand what aspects of their practice are effective and where they may need improvement. Lastly, leaving a review can also be a way to show appreciation for the support and guidance you received during your therapy sessions. It's a way to give back and help others who may be seeking similar help. Visit our website or google LEAF in Little Silver to read more of my client reviews and learn more about how I am as a clinician!
