As we wind down for the weekend, it's the perfect opportunity to tune into our body's signals. Often, we attribute physical symptoms like tension headaches, persistent muscle soreness, or an upset stomach to the physical exertion of our daily routines. Yet, these ailments can be the physical manifestations of mental stress and anxiety. A sense of worry or looming dread can also be your body's way of saying that your mental load is too heavy and it's time to pause. Let's use the slower pace of the day to engage in some introspection. 👉🏽 For example, if you notice that you're battling fatigue despite getting adequate sleep, or if you're experiencing panic attacks or an increase in blood pressure without a clear medical cause, it might be time to explore your mental health. Anxiety can be a silent undercurrent affecting us in subtle, yet significant ways. Take some time to prioritize relaxation and self-care, be it through meditation, a nature walk, or simply resting. And if these feelings persist, it may be beneficial to consider reaching out to professionals (like Therapy for the Culture 🧡) who can help navigate these experiences. https://lnkd.in/gzUufs33

"The Nose To Toes Exercise" Duration: 60 seconds Concept: To acknowledge and take "inventory" of your body and mind, allowing for adjustments to be made throughout your day that can help meet your physical, emotional, and psychological needs. This exercise is one that I personally practice each morning before I look at my phone or get up to start my day. I swing my legs off the side of the bed, close my eyes, and take note of what my mind and body is telling me. With this information, I can make small adjustments to my day and acknowledge what I need. Feeling grumpy? Sometimes I'll get myself a fancy coffee that morning or text a friend. Feeling tired? I'll be mindful to take extra breaks or utilize them in the most restful way possible. Feeling nervous or anxious? If my mind is telling me to address or resolve something, I will prioritize it if I can. Mental health is simply our "state of being", so it's helpful to take inventory of ourselves often. With that information we feel more empowered to take action (avoiding avoidance) and make adjustments where they are needed! How do you "check-in" with yourself? Leave a comment below!

Why Overthinking Doesn't Pay Off in Uncertain Times: In our fast-paced and uncertain world, many of us tend to constantly ruminate and worry. But is this rumination really worth it? Here are some reasons why we should consider letting go: Wasting Time: Overthinking often leads to endless thought spirals that rob us of valuable time without leading to concrete solutions. Stress and Anxiety: Excessive rumination can cause stress, anxiety, and depression, negatively impacting our mental health. Lack of Control: Many of the problems we ruminate over are beyond our control. Instead, we should focus on things we can influence. Shortage of Solutions: Ruminating rarely leads to new insights or solutions. It's often better to take constructive actions and actively seek solutions when possible. In these uncertain times, it's better to channel our energy into living mindfully in the present and concentrating on positive changes in our lives and the world. Rumination is often unproductive and harmful to our mental health. It's time to let it go and take proactive steps. What's your experience with overthinking? Looking forward to hearing your views. Best regards, Christoph

Mental Health Advocate 🧠 🌿 | Founder & Lead Psychotherapist at Incontact | Your partner in personal and professional growth using holistic and intuitive mental health techniques.
Many patients come to me unsure whether their anxiety might actually be depression, and it's a valid concern. Anxiety and depression are like close sisters—often, one is at the forefront while the other lingers in the background. Anxiety, for instance, tends to focus on the future, with worries like "I can’t handle that breakup" or "I won’t survive if I get fired." These are strong internal beliefs, often rooted in depression, that shape how we view ourselves and our capacity to cope. I remember working with a patient who came to me overwhelmed by anxiety. As we delved deeper into her emotions, we realised her fear of the future was deeply connected to feelings of loss and sadness. These were not just anxious thoughts; they were depressive schemas influencing how she saw her own strength. By addressing both anxiety and depression using mindfulness and cognitive techniques, we created a path that allowed her to not only manage her anxiety but also confront the deeper emotional layers. Mental health isn’t about labeling—it’s about understanding. It’s about unraveling those layers, and often, they tie together in ways you may not expect. There’s no wrong door to start healing. Once you take the first step, everything can fall into place. Whether it's therapy, lifestyle changes, or personalised tools, we'll find the right path for you. Your well-being is worth the journey!

I turn your genius into words that engage | Ghostwriter | Author | Cancer survivor in active recovery | Posting good vibes and mental health
The root of all pain fits into a box. And a single 4 letter word can point you to a solution. Every problem reduces to an emotional or physical problem, and that problem either exists inside of us or outside of us. And that fits into a grid, with Physical/Emotional across the top and Internal/External down the side. Then we fill in the grid with our 4 letter word: Remember: HALT HALT stands for Hungry, Angry, Lonely, and Tired. 🍎 Hungry = Physical and Internal 😡 Angry = Emotional and Internal (personal) 😒 Lonely = Emotional and External (social) 💤 Tired = Physical and External Nobody makes good decisions when they feel these. And that’s true in the short term and the long term. So think of the major problems in your life. Each one fits into one of these boxes. And each box has a simple solution: 🥗 Hungry: Eat well ✍ Angry: Journal 🔗 Lonely: Connect 👟 Tired: Move your body and sleep Which box gives you the most fits? --------------- PS: Like good vibes and mental health? give me a follow Troy Karnes ---------------- Oh, and here's a deeper dive: https://lnkd.in/gXVyZsCy

Five Ways Connecting With Nature Improves Your Mental Health 1. Connecting with the earth can boost your immune system Try immersing yourself by listening to bird song, smelling the flowers, touching the bark of a tree or taking your shoes and socks off to walk barefoot on the grass. 2. Being outside increases your vitamin D levels Insufficient vitamin D levels can lead to depression-like symptoms and seasonal affective disorder (SAD). 3. Sunlight can boost your mood and improve sleep Getting out in the sun also increases your serotonin levels. Serotonin is often referred to as the body's natural “feel good” hormone and it helps to regulate your mood. 4. Increased physical activity is good for psychical and mental health Most of us already know exercise is good for our physical and mental health, but exercising outside has the increased benefits of a serotonin boost. 5. Getting outdoors improves self-esteem and body image Studies have found that people who spend more time outside have higher levels of self-esteem and feel more confident in their own bodies. #thelinkcentre #therapistsconnect #therapy #counselling #counsellingskills #eco #nature #natureheals #ecotherapy #sunshine #greenspaces #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness
