A D-Day vet returns to Omaha Beach, Normandy. The sacrifices our military has historically made for global freedom from oppression are indescribable. Honor those sacrifices today by continuing the fight against evil in any way you can. And we can ALL do something. Find an organization doing work you can get behind, and volunteer some time, some blood, sweat, tears, or dollars. It’s going to take us all to maintain liberty and Justice for all - and that means YOU. Don’t waste a second of your freedom with whining and complaining, get up and DO something about the things that break your heart.

It may not seem to be much, but a quilted hug goes a long way to comfort our veterans. They are disbursed through Quilts of Valour - Canada, made by local quilters. There is a USA version, that our society was patterned after I met the US founder. To wrap a veteran with a quilt is a very emotional feeling. A thank you quilted hug is appreciated from someone who truly appreciates the freedoms we have, at a huge cost - and I don't mean $. To stand on the beach at Normandy will be a "feeling" I will never forget. This was the first QOVC quilt. Todate there have been 21,165 quilts presented to our Canadian soldiers and veterans. We are still deploying troops. https://www.quiltsofvalour.ca/

I'm a Norman born American citizen. I'm deeply touched by this image. My grandma was running away from German officers who wanted to kill her the day this officer landed of the beach of Normandy. We study this war a lot in Norman schools. That's something missing from American schools curriculum.

Glad my gramps didn't die that day, he lived a full life but his buddies I think he always wondered what he'll happened, I'm sure he regretted getting out of it, but him and his Indian friend absolutely knew they would paratroop to his death, rodger Swanson, you lived a good life, you made the right choice, it's a shame these men had to go through what they went through, all gave some but some gave all, the flag was draped over his coffin they said I was in A school, even though he was boy my blood grandfather I couldn't go and see him, to say my last goodbyes, I was in A School, Pensacola, Florida, in ABE school, I was so pissed throwing things in the berthing, gramps died from 101st airborne, couldn't go to his f@ckin funeral, I felt stupid after I put one and one together the Rolex was stolen by Indian friend, both were in brig so they were taken off deployment, when I went to my ship finally the death of gramps was finally past but I was still grieving, his real grand daughter Vanessa Swanson I discovered later was on my ship after we got back to deployment, all I had was a money clip with a golf emblem on it, so I gave it to her and told her that Gramps had passed away before I got there in February of 2004, he always said

We all owe these men a deep debt. I am in awe of them and what they sacrificed so that the world is the place it is today. I fear that if it happens again there won’t be good men willing to sacrifice like they did.

I would rather people actually just listen to our stories than thank us for our service.
