When Ireland RepTrak first began measuring the reputations of Ireland's top 100 organisations, just two Irish organisations – The Irish Times and the National Lottery - took top ten places. This was repeated in 2011 with just An Post and Smyths Toys featuring in the top ten. Now, over ten years later, we're seeing a change. By 2023, five of the top 10 organisations were Irish, and if you look carefully at the five international organisations completing the list, two of these - Aldi and Lidl - have embedded themselves firmly in the Irish community over the years, gaining market share, trust, and reputation, and they are highly regarded as good corporate citizens. Contact us today at info@thereputationsagency.ie to understand how your organisation’s reputation can improve.

Watching Laura Kuenssberg discussing the UK Government's support for hospitality this morning really highlights the disparity between England and Scotland. While our English colleagues receive a further year of 75% discount on business rates, the Scottish Government has not passed on the same support to our hospitality sector. This will be the third year in a row that Scotland's hospitality businesses have not benefited from the same help. It's not just the lack of support that's affecting our sector. Policies like STL, Tourism Levy, DRS, Alcohol Advertising, Glasgow City Council's increased tax on working people with 10 pm parking charges, and WPL are all having a devastating effect on our confidence. As a result, twice as many hospitality businesses have permanently closed in Scotland than in England. We can't afford to ignore this issue any longer. Family-owned businesses are the backbone of Scottish hospitality, and they need to be able to thrive, not be strangled at every level. While some businesses are doing well, we can do so much better. We can't leave behind our small family-owned businesses that support communities, local jobs, and local supply chains. Complete NDR reform is needed, and we will continue to work hard with Ministers to bring about that change. The ask of the Scottish Hospitality Group of the Scottish Government is very clear: Let us work together, in partnership, with vigour and speed, to ensure that our hospitality sector, including small businesses, is given the support it needs to succeed. #hospitality #Scotland #supportsmallbusinesses The Scottish Hospitality Group

Celebrating success is great. But let’s talk about when we get it wrong… 👎 I know it isn’t always easy to own up to mistakes made in the world of work, but our failures, as much as our successes, shape us into who we are today. 👇 Only working on projects that we KNOW we will succeed on, limits our chance for progression. ⏩ By taking risks and accepting that we might fail, we learn, we grow, and we improve our behaviours. 🧠 That’s why I’ve posted on the World Commerce & Contracting Community Platform asking peers to share moments that might not have gone the way they intended and how this experience has helped them going forward. If you are a WorldCC member, please head over to the community and join in the discussion! 🔗 Kate Hodgins Nikki Mackay Catherine King Matt Tizzard Pablo CILOTTA Stephanie Richardson https://lnkd.in/e4mBde7J #community #CCM #Contracts #failure #success

People Developer | Talent Development | Sales Trainer & Coach | Keynote Speaker | President Castlebar Chamber | Lecturer p/t
As President of Castlebar Chamber I was delighted to welcome Minister Michael McGrath Department of Finance Ireland on Thursday 25th April to #Castlebar at Breaffy House Resort to raise issues concerning Castlebar's businesses. Thanks to Lisa Chambers for facilitating our request for a meeting with the Minister and Dara Calleary for attending. Also present at the meeting were Westport Chamber, Ballina Chamber of Commerce, Irish Hotels Federation Restaurant Association of Ireland nd Vintners' Federation of Ireland (VFI). I raised the following issues on behalf of Castlebar: 1: The rising cost of doing business. Anne went through a thorough list of rising costs followed by requesting 3 key changes: (a) Significantly reduce employers' PRSI. (b) Review the VAT rate for hospitality, considering a reduction from 13.5% to 9%. (c) Halt the increase in excise duty. 2: Infrastructure and mobility improvement Hiighlighting infrastructure is the backbone of economic development and identified several areas where improvements are urgently needed. The 3 key changes: (a) Prompt action on the development of Knock Airport (b) Advocated for an increase in Dublin airport's passenger cap to 40 million, ensuring better connectivity and flexibility for businesses in Castlebar and across Mayo. (c) Develop the rail network to connect the 3 main ports (Dublin, Rosslare, and Limerick). In conclusion I reminded the Minister that Castlebar and Mayo are primed for increased investment from the international market and highlighted Castlebar's accolades, including winning the best town for work-life balance, several tidy town awards, the Bank of Ireland Rising Star Award, and its reputation as a well-known enterprise town. My message was clear: Castlebar is open for business. The chamber undertook to formally communicate the above to the Minister and his department, and we look forward to his response. #CastlebarChamber #BusinessGrowth #InfrastructureImprovement #Castlebar #MayoInvestmentOpportunities #CommunityEngagement #chamber

As we see politicians pulling pints in pubs during their election campaigns, it’s a stark reminder of the central role pubs and hospitality venues play in our communities. However, the real support needed goes beyond photo opportunities. With today’s general election in the UK, it's crucial for the incoming government to back our beloved pubs and hospitality sector. Key initiatives should include: - Ensuring the current business rates re-evaluation doesn't lead to unsustainable rate increases. - Introducing a cap on energy prices for businesses to help manage operational costs. - Reviewing the Pub Code adjudication system to balance the scales fairly between pub tenants and pub-cos. Over-inflated beer prices for tied pubs should be addressed. - Implementing a VAT Relief system specifically for smaller businesses to provide much-needed financial respite. Caroline Nokes MP kindly agreed to open our pub a few years ago, however, she did not ask me one question about the business or what support we needed. Let’s hope for a government that truly understands and supports the backbone of our local economies. Cheers to a brighter future for our pubs! #SupportLocal #PubsMatter #HospitalityHeroes #ElectionDay2024 #BusinessRates #EnergyCap #VATRelief
