It covers: 🔹The general contextual bandit problem and how it applies to recommenders, pricing and medicine. 🔹How to think about the problem in terms of known and unknown action functions. 🔹An intuitive explanation and critique of regret as an algorithm's selection criteria. 🔹An animated explanation of the LinUCB algorithm itself. More broadly, the two things delivered with this post are 1) an understanding of CB algorithms and 2) an implement-level explanation of LinUCB. (links in comments)
