We are so excited to see the Royalton Hotel listed in the National Register of Historic Places, and to see the "Residential Hotels in Chicago 1910-1930" National Register Multiple Property Documentation (MPD) we prepared back in 2015-2016 put into action!
It was once nearly impossible to get any of Chicago's many historic apartment hotels listed in the National Register, a requirement for seeking federal and state historic rehabilitation tax credits.
Ramsey Historic Consultants, Inc. prepared the Residential Hotels in Chicago MPD which was approved by the National Park Service in 2016. This MPD now makes it easier for the National Park Service to recognize this historic Chicago building type and to renovate these historic apartment hotels using federal and state HTCs.

Our Ramsey Historic Consultants, Inc. team was excited to learn last week that Chicago's Royalton Hotel has been officially listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
Completed in 1926 and located on Chicago's Near West Side, the Royalton Hotel is an excellent example of a 1920s Chicago apartment hotel. The Royalton Hotel has offered affordable short- and long-term housing accommodations for West Side Chicagoans for nearly a century.
This National Register listing officially qualifies the Royalton Hotel for federal and state historic rehabilitation tax credits. RHC is assisting CityPads pursue HTCs with the help of our friends on the architectural team at HED.
Our RHC colleagues John Cramer and Emily Ramsey led the research and writing for this National Register nomination. Many thanks to the National Park Service and the Illinois State Historic Preservation Office for this important recognition. Stay tuned for more updates!
