February is American Heart Health Month, and it is important to highlight the intersection between accessible healthy food and cardiovascular well-being. Heart health is not just about exercise; it is intertwined with our dietary habits and food access. Yet, many communities face significant barriers to accessing the healthy food they need – 12.8% of US Households are food insecure. Studies consistently highlight the correlation between food insecurity and poor cardiovascular outcomes. That is why we are committed to addressing food insecurity and other health related social needs as part of our commitment to #SocialHealth. This American Heart Month - and every month - we are empowering our Community Health Centers to talk to members about food security and supporting them with resources like SNAP, WIC, and by investing in programs like our Flexible Services Program. By fostering a culture of well-being and equitable food access, we can pave the way for stronger communities and healthier hearts. #foodismedicine #hearthealth #Hearthealthawareness #CommunityHealthcenters #Healthequity #Foodisnutrition #americanheartmonth #SocialDeterminantsofHealth

Beyond medicine, a balanced diet is one of the most effective ways to combat sicknesses and diseases. Hence, communities with easy access to nutritious food are better equipped to fight off illnesses and maintain overall health. The fight to end hunger and ensure food security in our communities is a collective responsibility. By working together on this, we can make significant strides towards improving health outcomes and fostering long-term sustainability. Consequently, we need to increase focused efforts towards combating hunger and subsequently ushering in a world where no one goes to bed hungry, and everyone has access to the nutrition they need to lead healthy, productive lives. #OreoluwaFinnih #EndHunger #FoodSecurity #BetterHealth #SDG2

Your child’s diet is essential for developing and maintaining strong and healthy teeth. It is helpful to include good sources of calcium (yogurt, broccoli, and milk) in your child’s diet to help build strong teeth. Teaching your child about healthy eating habits is one of the best practices for a lifetime of good health. Here are some helpful tips: 🍎 Eat fruits and vegetables for snacks rather than candies and cookies. 🪥 Brush your child’s teeth twice daily. 🚰 Serve water at mealtime rather than juice or soda.
