Founder of LEO | 2024 Greenleaf Center Hall of Fame Inductee | Fostering Servant Leadership Globally
The scene of spring always evokes a sense of haziness. The trees, lush and verdant, while the air carries a delicate fragrance of blossoms. The scenery of West Lafayette resembles a natural impressionist masterpiece, akin to the works of Claude Monet. “In the early morning, I drink coffee before daffodils in bloom; My sleeves are filled with fragrance and with whom. Say not my soul Is not consumed. Should the east wind uproll The curtain of my bower, You'll see a face more solemn than yellow flower.” #LeoChat's Servant Leadership weekend virtual music Fika come again. Today, we bring to you Chopin's "Fantasy" Impromptu, performed by Bohua Zhang (Peter), a #Boilermaker. In the ambiance of Chopin's "Fantasy" music, Mr. Sander and I engaged in a conversation. Timothy E. Sander: "What are your thoughts on the applicability of servant leadership to profit-driven companies? Some may argue that it's more suited for nonprofit organizations, positing that profit-driven companies don't align with servant-oriented principles and may not accept them. It's curious that Greenleaf, who initiated the movement in the 1970s, worked for AT&T, a private company. However, AT&T operated as a regulated monopoly. Greenleaf believed the concept applied to profit-driven companies, but few large corporations have embraced it. The ones that have, such as Starbucks, Southwest Airlines, and TDIndustries, Inc., adopted it from their inception as small, innovative startups and maintained it as they grew." Jenny Guan: "I've compiled the distinctions between for-profit and nonprofit organizations regarding purpose and ownership. For-profit Organizations: Purpose: They primarily aim to maximize economic profit. Ownership: They are typically owned by private individuals, partnerships, or shareholders. Nonprofit Organizations: Purpose: They may pursue charitable activities, education, cultural promotion, community development, etc., with surpluses directed towards their mission. Ownership: They are usually governed by a board of directors or a trust, rather than private individuals or shareholders. Considering purpose and ownership, #LEO (Leadership Enhancement Organization) seems more compatible with nonprofit organizations.” Timothy E. Sander: "Your insights are appreciated." … LEO's mission is to create a community with a global perspective dedicated to lifelong learning about Servant Leadership and leadership. 🙏 Keynote speaker: Mr. Timothy E. Sander. 🙏 Academic mentors: Ms. JeanAnn Nichols, professor Todd Cherches, professor Tom Morehead PCC,MBA,SPHR. 🙏 Advisory Team: Mr. Jake Tatel, Ms. Sarah McArthur, Mr. Rob Salafia, Mr. Jorge A. Romero-Day Grateful for Mr. Sander's contributions in exploring the applicability of servant leadership across diverse organizations. https://lnkd.in/gXsEHHny #LEO #LeoChat

Building Obeyas Without a One-Size-Fits-All Approach 🛠️ In the realm of Obeya building, one fundamental truth stands out: there is not one template to build an Obeya. Diversity reigns supreme, and it's this diversity that fuels innovation and progress. Gone are the days of rigid structures and cookie-cutter approaches. Today, we celebrate the unique needs and dynamics of each team, crafting Obeyas tailored to their specific challenges and objectives. Recognizing that there's not one template means embracing the complexities of each situation, adapting our strategies to suit the ever-evolving landscape of problem-solving. 👉 Building an Obeya without a predefined template requires a willingness to explore, experiment, and iterate. It's about embracing uncertainty and finding creative solutions in the face of ambiguity. 🔍 Our role as Obeya Builders is not to impose a standardized framework but to facilitate collaboration and co-creation. It's about empowering teams to design Obeyas that reflect their individuality and aspirations. 🌟 Let's champion diversity in Obeya building, knowing that it's this diversity that sparks innovation and drives meaningful change. Together, let's break free from the constraints of convention and pave the way for a more inclusive and adaptive approach to Obeya building. #ObeyaBuilder #Innovation #Adaptability #Collaboration #CreativeProblemSolving Ready to embrace diversity in Obeya building? 🛠️

'Silent sports' are the holy grail, right? A deep connection to nature, the moment unfolding, uninterrupted solitude. The problem with silent sports: they're unrealistic for almost everyone. But anyone with access to a bike can experiences the soul sport juiciness we usually reserve for rock climbers, surfers, and powder skiers. Thanks to Philip at Street Wisdom for spreading the word. This week, we officially launched Fit Liberty: a free exchange service that removes the expectation of size fluctuation from the shopping experience. Fit Liberty was an idea that my dear friend and co-founder Alex had since we came together to start this brand eight years ago. A simple idea, really, that was strangely revolutionary. Alex wanted to provide our customers with pieces that they could buy for the size they were at that very moment, without any worries... we would replace their purchase with a new size if theirs were to change within one year. In Alex's words, "You shouldn't make an emotional payment when you buy clothes." I think of this often and believe that clothes should GIVE you a joyous emotion—a eureka moment, a content feeling that you've made the right choice. That's what Fit Liberty does. "We believe your clothes should always fit, feel, and look good. And, women deserve to live their lives without feeling bullied by their size." - Alex Waldman I've wanted to formally launch Fit Liberty for so many reasons. For our community, of course, but also for my late friend Alex whose legacy I cherish and want to weave into every single thing we do at Universal Standard. The brand was her deepest passion. Fit Liberty is the true embodiment of our combined dedication to making the fashion industry a more inclusive place.
The official launch of Fit Liberty was eight years in the making. A note from Universal Standard co-founder and CEO Polina Veksler on this revolutionary initiative:

Independent Marketing & Media Strategist and Advisor | Empowering startups and high growth businesses with marketing and advertising expertise and leadership to drive efficient growth
The power of partnerships -- not just for the big guys. We all remember the Barbie extravagance last summer when Mattel teamed up with almost everyone to promote the movie. And how everything Ryan Reynolds does these days seems like a 'twofer'. And the latest -- a partnership between The Instigators (AppleTV) and Dunkin' via Matt Damon and Casey Affleck. Good partnerships can make a lot of sense -- helps reach new audiences, can borrow or transfer brand equity, may open up new sales opportunities, etc. A 1+1=3 scenario. But they are not just accessible to celebrities promoting their work or big brands with big budgets. Any brand or business should include them in their toolbox. For example, I established a partnership between an e-commerce startup and a nonprofit, both of which had no or very limited marketing funds. What they did have were distinct audiences on social that allowed them to reach new people, a brick-and-mortar location that provided an additional sales channel for the e-commerce business and a fund-raising opportunity for the nonprofit. Sometimes a little out-of-the-box thinking can help overcome challenges. Maybe a partnership is just the ticket to your success.
