Good afternoon LinkedIn, I'm excited to announce the starting of a new student club at Purdue University for National Defense Technology; my aim is to create an organization within Purdue where students passionate about topics pertaining to national defense can come together and discuss the current events, emerging technologies, and developments regarding the ever-changing modern battlespace. Purdue is home to many clubs which already set students up for successful careers in a vast range of industries; the prime example being Purdue Space Program: A SEDS Chapter which naturally feeds students into both internships and entry positions at companies like SpaceX, Blue Origin, or other leading aerospace companies. Having now worked two summers with the Air Force Materiel Command, and only becoming further interested in a career in defense, I find the lack of student-driven involvement with the Department of Defense to be surprising. It is my belief that fostering such engagement can significantly benefit our national defense and security workforce by nurturing the interests and skills of students in this field early on. I have put together a short interest form for any Purdue student or faculty who may be interested in getting involved, things are very much so still in the works, so your ideas and involvement are very welcome. Please reach out to me if you have questions, or are interested to learn more. Thanks very much! 😉 https://lnkd.in/gtNRZ_sU #purdue #purdueuniversity #defense #dod #airforce #marines #army #navy #engineering #aerospace

I recognize I might be a dissenting view on this, but when I see these recent rankings for the Naval Academy, it makes me wonder why we aren’t ranked in anything with behavioral science or humanities. I actually know the answer to that - since Adm Rickover, the Naval Academy has become a STEM school and committed its resources and priority towards STEM education rather than a holistic education. The degradation of our graduates in their writing skills and the sacrifice of core humanities curriculum for STEM curriculum has real consequences. How many of the public schools or liberal arts colleges in these rankings have no majors at all in psychology, sociology, or any other behavioral science? (answer - only one, the Naval Academy). United States Naval Academy Rankings #4 in National Liberal Arts Colleges #1 in Top Public Schools #6 in Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs (tie) At schools where doctorate not offered #8 in Electrical / Electronic / Communications At schools where doctorate not offered #8 in Mechanical (tie) At schools where doctorate not offered Computer Science #65 in Economics (tie) #49 in Best Undergraduate Teaching (tie)

NCJFCJ team members recently met with international students from the John McCain Study of the U.S. Institute (SUSI) for Student Leaders on the Rule of Law and Public Service program. Participants were from foreign military, law enforcement, and law school institutions selected by the U.S. Department of State. Program objectives are to create a greater understanding of American institutions and culture, connect participants with their peers in the U.S. military/law enforcement, present the constant effort citizens take for a robust democracy, and represent the importance of public service and volunteerism.
