Understanding others. It’s key to what we do. As it’s Oscars season, it’s a great opportunity to talk about the power of film to help experience the slings and arrows of life for someone outside your bubble. Some great examples of realistic 'slice of life' films that have stayed with me: Another Year (a Mike Leigh classic, watch it for Lesley Manville’s incredible performance) I, Daniel Blake (the moments of kindness amongst the tragic story moved me to tears) Riff Raff (another Ken Loach classic that opens your eyes to ‘modern’ Britain through the eyes of jobbing construction workers) Boiling Point (incredible insight into the hospitality industry in a single take) Nomadland (the backstory is as fascinating as the actual story) Ellie Parker (Naomi Watts jumps in and out of characters as she brings to life the struggle of trying to make it as an actor) This is England (almost everything by Shane Meadows could be on this list) Belfast (experiencing The Troubles through the eyes of a 9 year old) Before Sunrise/Sunset/Midnight (every chapter resonates) Small Axe / Mangrove (Steve McQueen makes you feel as upset as his marginalised & oppressed characters) Which other films get you closer to different audiences? Please add to the list. #oscars #audience #empathy

Only three Thunderbird pilot spots available, and out of this talented group, I earned one. Thirty-eight applicants became the 13 in-person interviewees pictured here. Then, it came down to six finalists vying for the three coveted positions. The application process was intense. It was a six-day interview, stretching from Wednesday to Monday, during which we saw all the behind-the-scenes of the Thunderbird operations. To make things more challenging, I had food poisoning during this trip and nearly quit. The picture may not show it, but I had been up all night the night before with food poisoning. I was so sick that not only did I rethink my lunch choice, but also my entire life. I almost withdrew my application. But I pushed through. A month later, the field was narrowed, and I went through another six-day interview. In one of my final interviews, the highest-ranking four-star General in Air Combat Command asked me one of the most difficult questions I'd ever been asked in an interview. "Blaze, why do you think you are still here?" Honestly, part of me wondered if he thought I was a diversity hire. The voice was so loud in my head. I knew that I had more experience and hours than most of the applicants, and I didn't want to consider the thought that it was because I was a woman. I was also an Active-Duty member of the U.S. Air Force Reserve, and the Air Force was integrating the Active-Duty United States Air Force, Air National Guard, and Reserve forces. I answered, "The Air Force is integrating, and I represent the Air Force Reserve well." I was wrong... I was relieved when he corrected me and said, "No, I've been watching you—you're a great teammate, and you interact with the public well." Just because you're different doesn't mean you don't belong. Don't sell yourself short. Don't play small because it doesn't serve you, your team, your goals, and your life's purpose. #BrilliantUnderPressure

"From Army to Theater: My Journey as a Lead Actor. 🎭✨ I've been fortunate enough to pursue my passion for theater since my time in the army. Whether it's playing iconic characters like Tom in Glass Menagerie or taking on challenging roles in Neil Simon's plays, I've always strived for excellence. However, I've also encountered directors who didn't align with my collaborative approach. It made me realize the importance of finding the right team to work with. Every experience teaches us something valuable, and I've learned to embrace the diversity of directorial styles. 🤝💡 #TheaterPassion #LeadActor #CollaborativeApproach"

On her birthday, I reached out to her and sent her an airtime of 1k 1k airtime is nothing to her, she's not broke neither is she in need of my airtime. For the sake of privacy, I will address her as Mrs Sandra in this post. When she received the airtime and the message attached to it, she appreciated me so much. 3days later, I received a message from a stranger on WhatsApp saying Mrs Sandra recommended me to him to handle Facebook Ads for him. Without much bargaining, I got that deal. In less than 2 weeks, Mrs Sandra has recommended me to 3 persons. I began to wonder, just because of 1k airtime? Why was she not recommending me ever since? See, when the Bible said "A man's gift will make way for him" It is not just talking only about gifts in the form of talent, skills, or intellectual capacity. It also means your monetary gift, a physical gift such as airtime, shoes, bag, wine, and so on... They also possess the ability to make way for you, normalize giving gifts to men including the rich and the wealthy... Do not say, they already have... You are not giving to them because they are broke, you are giving your way into their hearts. I have seen the magic giving gifts to people does especially giving to the nobles. Could this be the key to your open doors? Could this be what you need to gain access to kings? A man's gift will always make room for him. PS: I am not asking you to start gifting everyone on their birthdays, do the ones within your means. Again you must not wait till their birthdays, and you must not give money, it could be sharing an idea to help someone or anything. Apply your heart to wisdom and live. .....We are made for the spotlight Follow Confidence Carson #confidencecarson #influence #impact #income
