As someone who regularly meets with students and staff across the college, I found Ben’s insights on fostering a reflective culture and challenging behaviour in a safe, supportive way particularly resonant. His knowledge and approach during the session were powerful reminders of the importance of looking beyond the ‘surface’ of our interactions to understand what perhaps ‘lies beneath.’ In today's world, young people face numerous unique challenges, especially in navigating the complex and often constant overwhelming landscape of online media, influencers and social impact. As marketers, it's crucial for us to understand how these external pressures can shape the way students respond to situations and exhibit behaviours. Ben’s session was a timely reminder that by taking a moment to reflect, think, and support each other—whether as colleagues or students—we can have a significant impact on situations we find ourselves in on and off campus. It's all our responsibility, no matter how often we interact with students, to help create a positive space where they feel safe and empowered to do their best. We have a case manager for every 3 children enrolled at Milestone ABA. Most agencies have 1 for every 15 children. It’s easy to use the words “individualized care” on your website and talk about how each client is looked after like they’re your only client. It’s harder to put your money where your mouth is and actually hire the necessary staff needed to make that a reality.
