A New Era of Exploration Begins! We had the incredible opportunity to capture the transformation of the Space Foundation Discovery Center in Colorado Springs as it embarks on a groundbreaking $3 million renovation. Thanks to the innovative vision of RTA Architects and the expert craftsmanship of GH Phipps, this project is set to revolutionize the way visitors engage with space and science. From redesigning the Science On a Sphere® system to creating new cutting-edge labs, their work is paving the way for the next generation of explorers and innovators. At The Unfound Door, we were thrilled to document this pivotal moment, ensuring every detail of the renovation was captured with precision and artistry. Our lens focused on the passion and dedication that brought this project to life, showcasing the spaces where future discoveries will unfold. Thank you to the Space Foundation Discovery Center for trusting us with this mission. We can't wait to see the impact this transformation will have on the community! #SpaceFoundation #RTAArchitects #GHPhipps #TheUnfoundDoor #SpaceExploration #STEMEducation #ColoradoSprings

MIT's self-assembling lunar habitat piques the public's interest in space architecture designs. While space habitats may appear reminiscent of science fiction, space architecture is a dynamic and evolving discipline. It focuses not on creating whimsical structures but on applying engineering principles with an architectural lens. MIT's Momo, a self-assembling lunar habitat, has recently gained significant popularity online, once again highlighting the intrigue of this fascinating field. #gigadgets #aerospace #designinspiration #spacestation #spaceexploration

🌍 Imagine a future, perhaps a distant one, where humankind has become a multiplanetary species. What would life be like beyond Earth? What parts of our culture, values, and traditions have we brought with us? Is the environment familiar to us, perhaps mimicking the light, textures, and smells found on our home planet? What would be the architecture be like? The theory and practice of the novel field of space architecture was first outlined in 2002, when the Millenium Charter was drafted at the World Space Congress. But how does one design with the unknowable in mind? To find an answer, futurist and architect Lovisa Volmarsson👋 met up with Marius Venø B., Senior Developer & Partner at SAGA Space Architects. Recently we attended several large events, with SPACE as our main theme. It was fantastic to meet new people and talk about space, because space is a perfect metaphor for talking about architecture and QualiWare: 👉 We gain a new perspective on our business and ourselves when we view Earth from space 🌎 👉 Creating wonders like the International Space Station (ISS) requires collaboration 🧑🏻🤝🧑🏽 👉 Undertaking complex missions like a moon landing requires excellent planning 🚀 Can you think of more similarities? #wecanachievethewildestthingstogether #EA #enterprisearchitecture

Space architecture for spaceship Earth?! Yes, please. Add this to your SXSW schedule for March 9 at 10am at Hilton Salon K to hear from ICON's Melodie Yashar, Celestial Citizen's Britt Duffy Atkins, SOM's Georgi Petrov, and BLUE ORIGIN's Daniel Inocente as they discuss how the knowledge, technologies, and practices developed for space exploration can be utilized and applied to address challenges on our home planet, Earth. Historically, space exploration has been seen as a distant and separate endeavor from the issues we face on Earth. Now, with the rise of commercial space ventures and increased interest in space-related activities, it is becoming increasingly apparent that innovations and solutions developed for space missions can have valuable applications on Earth. https://lnkd.in/gr7rY3Pv

1695 SPACE and SPATIALITY -Gautam Shah https://lnkd.in/d_CdKNSb For design, we concern ourselves with space and its spatiality. A space is measurable manifestation of the sensorial reach, whereas spatiality is experienced through the directionality (orientation) and movement. Both of these qualities may not be considered to part of space as a phenomenon. The realization of spatiality emerges through location and movement, both of which relate to change or shift. Spatiality is an awareness of the potential for involvement, interaction and engagement.

I contributed an article titled "Space × SDGs — Solving Challenges through Information from Space" to the "Architectural Information Society White Paper 2023-2024." In this article, I briefly review the history of space development, from its early days to the recent New Space revolution, and explain how the information gathered from space is being utilized to solve various challenges on Earth. Particularly in activities on the Moon, the expertise of architects is indispensable for the development of residential facilities and industrial infrastructure. Through this article, I hope to inspire architects to take an interest in the field of space. #space #moon #architect #sds #sustainability https://lnkd.in/gWSzxEEY
