Each year, Wawa, Inc. teams up with the USO and local members of the Air and Army National Guard for the annual tradition known as Operation Taste of Home, where together, they assemble care packages. This year, as #VeteransDay approaches, this annual tradition continues as Wawa associates, members of the Wawa Veterans’ Alliance and members of the USO and Pennsylvania National Guard plan to assemble more than 10,000 care packages that will be sent to service members stationed abroad. The Wawa Foundation will also be presenting the USO with a check for over a million dollars raised through customer donations! These campaigns make it easy for customers to donate and show that even small amounts can make a big difference — often totaling millions of dollars. Yes, believe it or not, that small change you donate as you make your purchase can actually make a huge difference in the lives of American service members, military spouses and military children. #TheUSO’s corporate partnerships help to fund major USO programs that support service members and their families — programs that keep them connected while they are stationed or deployed anywhere in the world.

Over the past several weeks, a fleet of Mobile USO teams have been operating in the southeast region – including Florida – in the wake of Hurricane Helene, which struck in late September. As soon as Hurricane Milton made landfall, these Mobile USO teams began reorganizing resources in order to deploy support members of the National Guard responding to the storm. As the Mobile USO team in Florida wraps up their operations surrounding Hurricane Milton, they are hitting the road again and joining USO teams still on the ground in North Carolina, who have continued to provide support to National Guard members serving in this area. The destruction of Hurricane Helene continues to have devastating effects on local communities in North Carolina, and the people serving in our military are still working around-the-clock to deliver critical supplies and clear roads. Aside from Mobile USO teams delivering support where it’s most needed, a temporary USO Center has also been built to provide a physical space for these service members to briefly rest, check in with their loved ones and refuel. The USO will continue to provide these resources in North Carolina over the next several weeks as service members carry out their crucial work. As long as the people serving in the National Guard and other branches of the military are working hard with continued Hurricane Helene relief, the USO will be right there beside them, supporting them through their missions. https://lnkd.in/gtE-aJ9M

Normally, during a deployment, it's the service member who receives a care package. But in this case, parents serving in Iraq flipped this tradition on its head and - with the help of the USO - assembled back-to-school care packages for their children back home. Even if they couldn't be there for their kids on their first day of school, the USO helped these military families remain connected throughout deployment. Read more here: https://brnw.ch/21wNEMm

More than 6,000 members of the National Guard from 16 states across the U.S. have been activated and are providing assistance in the wake of Hurricane Helene. For many of these service members, this work is personal – they are members of the very communities that have been affected by Hurricane Helene. As service members continue to work around-the-clock in dangerous conditions in order to provide critical support to southeastern communities, they themselves need support as well. And that’s where we come in. https://brnw.ch/21wNzZb
